Rabies (hydrophobia) is a very scary thing to have to deal with. Rabies is a viral infection that can become fatal for those who have it. Rabies in humans is usually gotten from animals with rabies. For example, raccoons, bats, dogs, cats, foxes, wolves, and skunks are known for spreading rabies the most. If you get bitten by an animal with rabies, you should see a doctor immediately so that you can get rabies treatment to save your life. There are many signs of rabies to be aware of.

Swallowing

One of the first rabies symptoms that you may notice is that you are having difficulty in swallowing. It may feel like your throat is closing up. It could feel like you have too much saliva in your mouth. You may even start to drool. Swallowing will be very hard for you to do, and if you try to swallow liquids it might cause muscle spasms.

Behavior

Another sign of rabies is if your behavior changes. You may become agitated. Everything will annoy you. You might even become violent. Be very careful if you feel rage inside of you. This is a sign of rabies especially if you are usually a very calm person. You may feel confused.

Bite Mark

The site of the animal bite mark will feel odd. It will not just hurt like ordinary bite marks. Rabies bite marks feel different. You will probably feel some stinging at the bite site. Your muscles around the bite mark will feel unusual. The muscles could spasm up.

Fever

You may get a fever if you have rabies. Honestly, when you get rabies you will just feel really off. You will know that something is wrong with you. You feel really sick. You probably will not want to eat because of the way you are feeling.

My Experience

I once saw someone get bitten by a rabid bunny rabbit that was running in a yard. The bunny was put down, and the person who had gotten bitten had to have rabies treatment. Stray animals can be really dangerous because they do not usually get rabies vaccine like house pets are supposed to. Always be on the lookout for animals that are not acting quite right, and stay away from them. Remember to go to the hospital immediately if you even suspect that you might have rabies. It could just save your life.
