What is Social Structure?

Bee
Social structure is found all around us. On this article, we will focus on the dos, don'ts, and every other miscellaneous form that is in our North American society. The term can refer to people of similar interest who group together to come to a common understanding. What in the United States is considered 'socially acceptable?

A social structure can be as small as a habitual form that people are raised to, and know for so long that for another person to do it any other way would seem abnormal. It would separate that person out in a group of people who habitually do an action in one congruent way.

It can be as big as something that changes the way everyone thinks. Such as 'One Nation Under God' being banned from the Pledge of Allegiance. Within a country that is filled with people whose faith is in Christianity, this is a big change from their patriotic faith, to simply their patriotism.

With those being two examples of how a plan or action that is fit to be social acceptable can become second nature to people, we'll speak more about what it is like for someone whom sticks out to society, and how there can be dire consequences for their actions.

It can be simply a saying that the majority doesn't agree with, to being an extendable library that we don't seem fit. Students will be ridiculed for their style of dress, which often contributes to a lack of self-esteem, or depression. This can drag on to adult years, where they miss out on opportunities in the fields of work, relationships, friendships, and essential survival in modern day life. Fads being a mentally tiring stress that millions of people put upon themselves.

In another reaction, it can be a rather good thing that humans will flock together in groups and set standards for everyone. It can evolve into some life saving techniques. Such as a force set up to keep the safety of people intact, police. They are socially acceptable as a human safety net, which will protect us against robbery, abuse, and worst of all - murder.

Social structure is found all around us, and while it does have reputable sources for keeping chaos and violence at bay, it still chronicles ways of keeping the general public blinded. We spend so much of our individual lives pretending to be somebody else, that in the end, do we really even know ourselves? Next time you look in the mirror, try to figure out who you are, behind the rules of everybody else. Step past the paint, creams, and lotions that cover you up. Look behind the stiffness of where you live and what is accepted there. Ask yourself, why are we so inclined to 'fit in?'

Writing is a window, an escape. It's the one thing that can take something apart, while simultaneously putting it together. It's a passion, an awakening, and something to keep motivation flowing.  View profile
