New Things to Do with AOL CDs

Glenn Magas
The dreaded AOL Promotional CD: you get them in the mail; you find them dropped into your shopping bag; people hand them to you outside of grocery stores. For years and years they accumulate and you just don't know what to do with them. Sure, you made mobiles for your baby's crib, you used them as drink coasters, and you've even decorated your floor with them. AOL promo CDs are like cockroaches - they just seem to multiply! So what do you do with them now?

Well, here are the Top 5 New, Unique, and Improved things to do with those pesky AOL promo CDs. It may even save your life!

1) CD Ping Pong Paddle

Your kids don't need those expensive 99 cent paddles to play ping pong! Glue a Popsicle stick to an AOL CD and Ping Pong away for hours. All you need is a table and a ball. If this catches on - and you better believe it will, it could lead to a Summer Olympic Event!

2) Shuriken throwing CDs

You might go to jail if you are caught carrying around those steel ninja throwing stars (shurikens). Yes, they are sharp and can bore itself pretty nicely into someone's forehead, but you can go to jail. So instead, carry around a bunch of AOL Promo CDs on your utility belt. If you're attacked by those stealthy ninjas, with a little practice and a Frisbee toss and a serious wrist action, you can take down those attackers one by one and they won't know what hit them! They also won't weigh you down and you can carry a load of them on an Arnis Escrima Stick!

3) Start a new Fashion

Neck ties, bolo ties (sometimes bola tie), and/or bow ties - who needs the same old thing to wear to work or a formal party? Jimmy up some fancy-shmancy string, a shoe string perhaps, and use the CD as a fashion statement. Are you going to a black tie affair, strut your stuff with an AOL CD tie!

Females, don't let it stop there! Some planning and you can create a shiny bikini top that is sure to turn some heads on the reality hit, "Project Runway". Beware, it may create some interesting sun-burns though.

4) Create the tallest stack of AOL CDs in the world.

John Bain spent 7 years of his life creating the Worlds Largest Rubber Band Ball; 3,500 lbs of rubber bands to be exact. Think big. Set some goals. Create the tallest stack of AOL CDs in the world and get yourself your 15 minutes of fame!

5) Flag down a passing plane

Carry at least one CD with you at all times. If you have crashed and find yourself stranded alone on a lost island in the middle of the Pacific, the AOL CD could be your life saver. Start a fire with the reflection of the sun is one good idea, but when there is a plane flying over head what are you going to do? Spell "Help" with some burning logs on the beach? No! Use the reflection of the sun to flash and flag down a passing airplane!

Who knew an AOL CD could save your life - in more ways than one!
