One of the reasons why so many people travel to the South Street Seaport is to see the ships that dock. During some weeks over the spring and summertime the navy fleets and sailors dock. The sailors then travel around Manhattan and see all of the sights. People at the South Street Seaport get to see all kinds of giant ships and go aboard them.
There is also a water ferry on the pier that takes people across the water to get a great view of the city.
The big attraction at the South Street Seaport is the wide variety and selection of stores. A huge mall is located at the seaport and many people gather there to shop because it has some of the best stores in the city. The stores include Sharper Image, Foot Locker, Lids, the Sunglass Hut, Mens Express, Timberland, NY shirts, Beyond the Wall, As Seen on TV and much more.
The South Street Seaport also has a huge food court located on its third floor. They have the usual fast food chain stores like Subway, Nathan's Pizza, Pasta, Chinese Food, Tasy Delight, HagenDaz and many other stores that you see in most mall food courts. There are also two bars to get drinks and there are two restaurants for customers to sit down and order food.
Besides shopping, outside on the pier entertainers often perform something special. I have seen a man on a unicycle juggle swords, another man ingest fire and another entertainer perform a unique dance. You never what surprises are in store for you when you visit the South Street Seaport.
So if you are in New York City, c'mon down and give the South Street Seaport a try.
