What Sparks Your Creativity?

M. Saint Louis
I've been writing things for a very long time. I have a unique style that is all my own. Of course, everyone has their own style, and it is easy to recognize that fact. People like to write for many different reasons. In my experience though, most people write, and in fact read, only when coerced. This occurs mostly during work and school, predominately school. Now there's nothing wrong with this fact, especially if it will help lead a person to read and write on their own, because it can be utterly pure enjoyment.

Now, what are some reasons people write you may ask? Unless I do a survey and a bunch of research I can't exactly say with enough authority. Although, I can say what has sparked my creative engines in the past. The most creative I've ever been is when I'm emotional about something. Whether it be emotional about events in my life, or things that I read, hear, or see about in the world. That has always been my greatest inspiration. My passion, whatever it may be at the moment.
In fact my passion is what started me writing this blog entry. I'm nostalgic about things I've written over the years. The lost texts of a unique individual, as is every individual. My poetry, my short stories, my sparse journal entries. So much of my work was lost over the years. The printed pages, the floppy disks *remember when we all used those?* The free online file managers of the past, who suddenly deleted everything without notice when they started charging for their service. I'm thinking of geocities here. All this nostalgia was started when I realized what my oldest email address was, and that it only went back a few years. I couldn't remember what email I used 5 years back. This made me sad. Made me feel old *even though I'm not* and it just made me feel generally sad for some reason.
Have you ever just realized that you forgot something? That what you can't even remember what you forgot in the first place? It's weird, all you have is this strange sense of something that was once familiar is now lost. This happens to me quite often. So because of all this, because of my feelings of nostalgia and sadness, I've decided to write something. I don't know about you guys, but I think it helps illustrate my point, that creativity is sparked by emotion, by your feelings, by your passion. What sparks your creativity? Or to be more correct, what are your passions?
