According to Mr. Webster at www.merriam-webster.com, "stir" means to rouse to activity, evoke strong feelings in or to bring into notice or debate. Thinking of the word "stir" and it's many meanings got me thinking about life.

When thinking about your life I am sure there are many occasions that you have been "evoked with strong feelings" or have had something "brought into notice or debate". Many areas of life can stir you in these ways. Many of us are stirred several times throughout the day.

Everyday activities can bring me to "notice something"or 'bring me into a debate." It can also "evoke strong feelings." I am "stirred" quite often. Maybe other types of situations stir you. It's my opinion that any form of emotion is stirring. When your angry, sad, mad or happy something has stirred you to feel that way. Some people are "stirred" more than others, and some are stirred quicker than others.

There are different levels of being "stirred." You can be "stirred" a little or a lot. Getting fired might "stir" you more than thumping your toe at night would. Getting fired might "evoke strong feelings" and it might even "rouse you into activity or a debate." Thumping your toe at night might only "stir" you to give out a hearty yell.

Some situations or issues can stir us so deeply that we rise with a passion within us. Think of a cause you support or something you are extremely passionate about. We all have those subjects that are a hot topic or a hot button issue for us. Once that button is pushed we are "stirred" and we usually do "rouse to activity or debate". For example, one of my passionate issues is abortion. That subject affects me deeply and if "stirred" I have the tendency to "evoke strong feelings and debate". Sometimes the level of "stirring" that an issue or situation has on us can be very physically and emotionally charging.

Some people "stir" quietly while others are quite vocal when they are "stirred". Some folks are easily "stirred" while others aren't "stirred" so easily. What "stirring" personality trait do you possess? It may not be one or the other. As mentioned earlier it could all depend on the issue or situation.

Hopefully this article has made you look at the word "stir" a little deeper. Maybe it has you searching for the answer to, "What Stirs You"?
