When you are pregnant your appetite will increase and that is nothing to feel bad about. Obviously it going to, you are eating for at least two now. Your body now needs to process nutrients for at least two bodies. This means that all though it is important to feed your cravings while being pregnant it is also very important to choose the food that you decide to consume for the right reason. Eating an entire bag of Lays potato chips may sooth your appetite but it will offer little or nothing for your baby's development.

What do you need to eat? Well instead of thinking in terms of carrots, apples and oatmeal think in terms of protein, vitamin A, vitamin C and iron.
There are 11 major nutrients that you will want to consume during your pregnancy.

1. Vitamin A
Good For: Bone Growth, Healthy Skin and Good Eyesight
Food You Can Find It In: Carrots, Dark Leafy Greens, Sweet Potatoes

2. Vitamin B6
Good For: Formation of Red Blood Cells
Food You Can Find It In: Bananas and Whole-Grain Cereals

3. Vitamin B12
Good For: Nervous System and Red Blood Cells Formation
Food You Can Find It In: Milk

4. Vitamin C
Good For: Healthy Teeth, Gums, Bones and Helps Absorb Iron
Food You Can Find It In: Citrus Fruit, Broccoli, Fortified Fruit Juices and Tomatoes

5. Calcium
Good For: Muscle Contraction, Nerve Function and Strong Teeth and Bones
Food You Can Find It In: Cheese, Milk, Spinach and Yogurt

In addition to eating a well rounded healthy diet a woman who is pregnant should also take supplemental vitamins. Prenatal vitamins are something that a woman will want to continue taking after having birth while she is breastfeeding.
