What and Who Are These Camgirls Anyway?

Within the last few years of my internet life, I've had the luck to get to speak to, learn from and befriend camgirls on a popular adult website. It seems there's a lot of garbage these girls have to deal with and in the future there will no doubt be more, however, the life of a camgirl is not always what you see. In fact, often times these girls are seen as the prostitutes on the internet. Like they solicit money and gifts in return for sexual photographs. However, there is more than meets the eye with almost all of these girls.

Let me first state that most of these girls are in college, or even have graduated. It's a shocker, right? It's hard to fathom these intelligent women would stoop to a level that many consider low for whatever reason they may have. Consider it another option over writing, in all honesty. If you've ever paid attention to some of these sites, you'll notice that on occasion they'll even take pictures of their homework with a caption stating something like, "lots of work tonight, test in the AM" or something signifying they are in college. If you're lucky enough and they are taking a break, these opportunities to get to know the girls (provided there's a chat ability) on a more personal level. It's amazing how a picture can tell a thousand words, but the words can make the picture better. I even recall one or two girls being in law school and even sharing this passion of theirs with others when they were on and able to chat. (Or willing, for that matter.)

There are also quite a few married women who cam, as well. Why? Who rightly says, truth be told. Maybe they just cam for fun, there's no harm in that. Back before the internet a harmless flash of a car or person was quite amusing. It showed courage. At least there you could see the reactions of the people targeted. Online you can't. Sure it may seem dangerous and sometimes it can be (I will never state that anything on the internet is fully safe, ever), but these woman are smart enough to know not to give out personal information. Maybe these married women do it because it sparks their relationship with their husband. Sort of like the 'amateur porn star that I'm married to' sort of spark. Variety is the spice of life, right? As long as their husbands are secure enough to know that these woman aren't going to run around with invisible men on the internet, there's no reason to worry.
This also encompasses mothers and even some pregnant ones. However, the girls I knew who cammed and were expecting have all had their babies already. No, they don't show them on camera. They aren't stupid, however, some may share the childrens pictures with you if you're a good friend. This sometimes causes issues with others outside, because they see wishlists from these girls and immediately assume they're just using people online to pay for things that they can't afford or just refuse to buy. This isn't always the case. Sadly, it CAN be, but most of these women don't ask for a thing. If they are doing it for selfish reasons, they'd never say anyway. However, in the instances I experienced, this has never been an issue.

I will admit there are a number who are rather lethargic and just refuse to get jobs. They see camming as a source of income. It can be quite worthwhile, too, not that I'd urge everyone out there to suddenly cam. Yes, it's a shame to see girls who refuse to get jobs and expect strangers on the internet to cater to their every desire for a shot or two of their bodies, but it happens. These girls are perhaps the second biggest downside to camming. They grasp for attention and try to snarl it away from others because to them it means the attention and money may go elsewhere. Sometimes these ladies are often classified as the 'mean girls' of camming. They see every female as a threat to their income. And if you don't consider it income, quite a few of these girls (and some who weren't just in it for cash or gifts) have gotten cars from 'donations' to them. That is pretty insane.

Camming isn't as pleasant as I make it sound, speaking from experience. It can also be degrading and there is a lot of baggage that comes along with this lifestyle. These girls in any day have to deal with rotten requests from perverts as well as other girls being rude to even stalkers. This lifestyle can be very scary if a girl doesn't know how to handle a situation right. These girls do get called ugly and some places offer negative votes, which mean a girl is disliked. Sometimes with a certain number of negative votes the cam goes bye bye. This can and does crush camgirls. Ugly comments break anyone in general, so they're unwanted wholly. Stalking is a very serious matter. Sometimes, there is a camgirl who is a little too free about giving her information out to people and she becomes a victim to a stalker. These girls are always urged to get the police involved immediately for their own safety. Most often, the ones who can help them out the most are other camgirls. These girls, underneath it all, are a tight sisterhood. As for perverts, if they say something out of line, most of the camgirls active will even warn the person to stop. If they don't, a moderator (and yes, there is always one around) can and probably will ban them. They do not tolerate the girls being hassled.

Most girls also have their own websites. They promote these on a larger, more public camsite and end up getting members for 'members only' pictures or camshows - or truthfully anything they want to put on a site as long as the guys pay to view. They can be 'pay once for life' or monthly fees - that all depends on the girl. The most novel concept of this is a vast majority of these girls design and maintain the sites themselves. Yes, quite a few of these ladies are quite the adept web developers. Yes, it can seem like a shady and lazy way to bring in money, but sometimes these girls don't only offer their bodies. Some girls sell paintings, paper blogs or even short stories on their sites. They just choose to have members in order to keep it more private. That way the girl knows (generally) who is looking at her.

Underneath it all, these girls aren't all bad. They're beautiful, intelligent and very confident women. While people may jeer and see what they as a lifestyle, what lies beneath the surface and stereotype is completely amazing. I urge anyone who is blessed with the opportunity to get to know one of these camgirls to do so and make up your minds for yourselves. You will be amazed at these women.
