What Do You Think of Armageddon?

Rita Jan
Do you have an End Times verdict? Do you think the world will end in 2012, or at least within the next five years? These are questions which many people are asking themselves in the wake of the Obama administration, the global healthcare reform, and the vast disturbance over the economy and the environment.

Over the centuries, man has invented and studied "the fall of man." His own destruction. What will it take? Can man achieve this on his own, or does a Creator or god(s) step in and take action to save mankind? In addition to an afterlife, man has been obsessed with the next life, the next frontier, and has been driven to study outer space and the end of time.

What are your thoughts on Armageddon? Will there be a rapture? Perhaps we will all finally have enough, kill off all the mother-in-laws, buy out every major fast food chain, and whoever is remaining can crash the water parks at night.

Perhaps there will not be an end to mankind, after all. Maybe we will simply develop ourselves better and better, reaching the average lifespan past 120 years and everyone will have a second condo on the moon.

The reason why man is obsessed with the next formation of life is because man does not always know his own purpose. We are born, live widely varied, interesting lives and die, being buried in the ground, burned in a crematorium or sunk at sea. We seem to have a purpose for being on this earth, and we have made religion into a purpose which most of us can relate to. However, not all of us do, and not all of us really believe in an afterlife.

When thinking about the end of time, or an Armageddon-like situation, there are some important questions to ask yourself:

1. Why was I born in the first place? Think about your own beliefs about your purpose on earth, and whether or not you are fulfilling that purpose.

2. What do I wish to create with my life? Though many people focus on the legacy they will leave behind them, most people are focusing on their influence on the world during their own lifespan. Think about the world, the kingdoms and the personal relationships you would like to cultivate.

3. Do I believe in an afterlife? Some people are not focused on the end of humankind, but are only interested in what happens to everyone after death. This may sway your opinion concerning the End Times, and it may bring you to question traditional beliefs perhaps held by your family for generations.

When thinking about Armageddon, think about what is ending: Human life on earth. Whether we become something greater, or collapse into dust, the important thing to remember is this: Life is worth living today, no matter what may occur tomorrow.
