What is Tiger Woods Hiding?
Tiger's Continued Stonewalling of the Police is Only Leading to Further Speculation
It is widely reported that on Sunday afternoon, for the third day in a row, Tiger Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren Woods refused to meet with the police to describe Wood's accident from early Friday morning. When thinking through the facts in this entire episode, mare beginning any to wonder what exactly Tiger Woods is hiding.
Rather than meet with the police at the pre-scheduled time, Tiger Woods issued a statement on his website, blaming himself for the crash and praising his wife for acting heroically in the moments after. If what Woods said is true, that this was simply a careless accident, why not meet with the police and give them what they need to do their jobs and close the investigation? It would seem that the only reason not to is if Woods is hiding something.
While the reported facts of this case have not made sense from the outset, until now there has not been that much thought given to the possibility that there may be a cover-up of something potentially serious from a legal perspective. But by continuing to delay their cooperation with authorities, Tiger and Elin Woods are certainly not making it any easier for anybody involved, including themselves.
Now, anybody who has paid any attention at all to this story realizes that Woods' accident in the early morning hours after Thanksgiving came in the wake of reports that the National Enquirer was about to publish an explosive story claiming that Woods has been having an affair and cheating on his wife. Many connected the dots that perhaps this accident was caused be a domestic dispute. While certainly allegations of an affair could be embarrassing for both Tiger Woods and his wife, at this point, it would seem that Woods could simply make the story go away by talking to the police, acknowledging an argument and explaining what happened. While embarrassing, it's hardly something that would be very serious from a legal perspective. Yes, the possibility exists that Woods' wife could be investigated for domestic assault, it seems unlikely that without Tiger Woods pressing charges that the police would bother.
The fact that Woods has now canceled, again, on the police is fueling the fires of speculation that there is more to this story and that Woods is hiding something potentially serious nature.
