What Time and What Channel is the Cowboys Game Against the Redskins on Tonight in the Dallas Area?
America's Team Travels to America's Capital...A Guide to Where and when You Can Watch It
There is no doubt about it, in Texas, and in Dallas in particular, football is king; particularly Dallas Cowboys football. While Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers play nearby, the Cowboys rule the roost in the Dallas area. The Rangers are a healthy franchise, and are a lock to make the postseason this year. While they enjoy a solid and growing fan base, their popularity will never really rival that of the Cowboys'.
The Dallas, Texas area is a mirror image of the New York City area when it comes to popularity of the respective professional sports franchises; in the Big Apple, baseball is and will always be king, even though the New York Giants and New York Jets both enjoy a large and loyal fan bases. In Dallas, the opposite is true.
This year, the Cowboys are widely regarded as one of the favorites to win the NFC and go onto the Super Bowl. Not that they need any added incentive, of course, but the Cowboys enter this season with the knowledge that if they do advance to the Super Bowl, they would actually be playing in their home stadium; Cowboys Stadium, which will host the Super Bowl in February 2011, is located in the Dallas suburb of Arlington and has 80,000 seats and can accommodate another 30,000 fans in the standing areas.
Tonight, however, for the first game of their season, the Cowboys travel to Washington DC to take on the Redskins. The Washington Redskins are a once proud franchise that has fallen on hard times. They have renewed hope with the addition of quarterback Donovan McNabb, who they acquired in a trade in the offseason with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Sunday Night Football is an idea that initially met with some criticism. After a full day of watching football, and on a night that precedes the start of the workweek for most, it seemed illogical at first that a Sunday night game would serve the league well. It turns out, though, that the popularity of football, particularly for the premium games that are generally scheduled during this time, make it enough to be a solid hit.
Tonight, millions of people in the Dallas area will tune in to watch the Cowboys and Redskins. This afternoon, many are wondering what time and what channel the Cowboys and Redskins game is on in the Dallas, Texas area.
The Cowboys game will be on at 7:20 Central Daylight Time and it will be on KXAS, Channel 5, the NBC network affiliate in Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas.
