The idea of the timeshare started in Europe during the 1960's at ski resorts. Timeshares have become very popular in recent years with vacation-goers and real estate investors. Thousands of timeshares are bought and sold each day. When looking for a timeshare, be careful of what kind you invest in. This article will examine the three major types of timeshares and details about them.
The first type of timeshare that I will discuss is a called a rotating timeshare. Rotating timeshares are paid for, and then the buyer chooses a time that they would like to visit their destination. This is a very common type of timeshare deal and works well as long as the buyer requests the time that they would like to visit enough in advance. This can get complicated, especially on peak travel times because every buyer who has bought into the timeshare has to pick their own specific period of time to visit.
The second type of timeshare that I am going to talk about is called a floating timeshare. Floating timeshares are similar to rotating timeshares. The difference is that reservations do not have to be permanently set and the buyer can visit the destination at any time they want as long as it is open for the amount of time that they purchased. For example, if someone bought a piece of a timeshare for 7 days and found out unexpectedly that they had a week off, they could simply call and find out if the timeshare is open, and if it is, be on their way.
The third type of timeshare that I will discuss is called a fixed timeshare. A fixed timeshare allows a buyer to purchase a certain window of time that is always theirs. This is good for people who have a vacation with a set-in-stone date every year. These types of timeshares are very common because they are the easiest to plan for due to the visit being at a set date and time.
These are the tree major types of timeshares. If you are interested in buying a timeshare, make sure you do a lot of research and know what you are getting yourself in to.
