What of Today?

Penny White
Today may be the day that some driver isn't paying attention (myself included) and my car will be rendered a crumpled piece of aluminum with me in it.

Today may be the day my blood pressure skyrockets one time too many and sends that stroke to my brain.

Today may be the day when my heart can no longer tolerate the stress it has carried for all the years it has sustained me.

Today may be the day when any one of hundreds of freaky, unnatural things may occur to bring about my untimely demise.

So what will I do with today?

Am I willing to allow it to go by without letting those I care about know how much they mean to me?

Am I willing to allow today to happen without taking at least one moment to appreciate the blessings I have?

Am I willing to spend this day dwelling on the past even though the past cannot be changed?

Am I willing to while away this day daydreaming about what the future holds?

Do I wish for this day to end without witnessing the sunset which marks the end of a beautiful day?

Will this day pass me by without my experiencing one moment of absolute joy just for being alive?

Will I spend every moment of this day in the moment?

What does today mean to me?

How much does today mean to me?

What will I do with today?
