What is Today's Music Missing?

Throughout the decades there have always been certain artists or bands that not only impact the people of that time period but also people for years to come. Of course it is a person's own opinion if one artist is better than another or a "stand out" artist. But there is no arguing the fact that some stand out much more than others and will never be forgotten and to this I ask can any of the artists today be predicted to have this quality?

It seems as though today there are of course great artists out there who produce amazing music that will be remembered for years to come but the number of these select few a scarce. One hit wonders and artists that seems to rise in a short period time and then drop off the face of the earth is what the majority of today's music is producing. Most of the music ranging from Metal, rap/Hip hop, country, rock, and all genres seem to be following the same cookie cutter studio sound and no one seems to stand out over all the others. There are some artists who produce great original music continually in our time but most of these are artists are from the 90's 80's and 70's who have stuck around to still make music to this day.

We need someone who stands out from all the others who are yet to be discovered who will change the pattern music is following and define our era with a breakthrough of originality and a ground breaking sound. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of great artists out there who produce great music, I just don't feel as though any of them process the traits that will make them one of the greats and who will never be forgotten, but I'm hoping that one of these artists will spark a breakthrough in today's music.
