What Are Tom Brady and the New England Patriots Trying to Prove?

Do They Have Chips on Their Shoulders or What?!?

Mike Thomas
Okay, Tom Brady! We get it! You are the man. Ditto for the rest of the New England Patriots.

Everyone knows this! So what are you trying to prove?!?

Did you really need to throw five touchdowns in against the Dallas Cowboys for the Pats to win? No. The 48-27 drubbing of America's Team is evidence of that.

And did you absolutely, positively HAVE to throw another five touchdowns IN THE FIRST HALF against the hapless Dolphins? No, but it's a good thing you threw one more in the second half so the Patriots could narrowly squeak by 49-28.

What are you guys trying to prove?

Tom Brady, you're the golden boy of the NFL. You're arguably already one of the best who ever played quarterback. So what are you trying to prove? Are you trying to eclipse Peyton Manning's recent single-season touchdown record? And if so, why? It's not like the New England Patriots need such production out of you. The Pats have a decent running attack.

You know what I think, Tom Brady? I'll tell you anyways: I think that, despite you having 3 Super Bowl rings to Peyton Manning's one, his record sticks in your craw. The media constantly compares the two of you because you're the best two quarterbacks of your generation. And it probably irks you that there are some sports pundits who say the Colts' franchise player is better.

Am I getting warm? Or is there another, perhaps more obvious reason you're scoring more often than Paris Hilton?

Do you by any chance have a chip on your shoulder? And what about your fellow New England Patriots? Do they also have chips on their shoulders?

That may be it. But why? It wouldn't have anything to do with suffering the embarrassment of being caught spying on the lowly New York Jets and stealing their signals, would it?

I think I'm getting warmer, Tom Brady. I think I'm getting warmer.

Let's look at the facts:

Since you've taken the helm of the Patriots, New England has chalked up three Super Bowl trophies and your team is always expected to contend for the greatest title in football. You lead a top shelf team and, if you'll forgive me for saying so, Tom, this may be the best New England Patriots team ever - now that Randy Moss is there and actually willing to play.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, are you playing like this because you're embarrassed or angry? Are you trying to prove to the world that you don't need to steal signals to dominate?

You've made your point, already! Now how about giving us fans a reason to actually watch you play a full game? You know, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for you guys to have a close game once in awhile. Maybe you could try winning by less than 20 points ever so often.

Get real Mo. The Patriots have already proven they can do it in the post season to the tune of 3 superbowls.

The Pats won and the Ravens lost. You fans have finally seen that the Patriots are vulnerable. But let me set the record straight, and go over what everyone has been arguing about and clear it up for everyone ( This game and games before._

    1. Officiating: The officiating wasn't good. For the Patriots. Although the Ravens had more penalties, they were playing aggressive but somewhat reckless defense. The last call of the game is legit and actually not as fair to the Pats as it was to the Ravens. Watson had the ball in the vicinity of the pass and was knocked down prior to the ball passing him. It should've been defensive P-Int, but it was only called holding (maybe at the slant WR position in the middle, I'm going to check again). This can't be a tick-tack call if a guy is hit during his passing route and the ball is in his vicinity. I am sorry but it is the usual call 95% of the time. Either way, something should've been called, because at least one route was interfered with during
