What Tourists Should See on a Visit to Buffalo, New York

"The City of Good Neighbors"

Whenever one visits a new city it is always helpful to know what is available to you in that particular area. I know that when I visited Buffalo, New York I wish I had know the information I am going to share with you. Knowing the best places to visit, and the restaurants that serve the most delicious foods sure would have saved me and anyone a lot of time and frustration.

Now if you only have a day to spend in this great city I would suggest heading downtown to begin your morning. Before heading into town though, stop at the Broadway market, which is located on the outskirts of the city. Here you will find some of the greatest bakeries in town, and they serve the best fresh baked muffins. Don't forget to take a look at all of the specialty vendors though. Here you will find produce, meat, homemade bread, flowers, candy, and arts and crafts from a variety of different sellers. The next stop on your list should be the Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House, which is only a mere 10 minute drive from the market. Wright, himself had a great career in Buffalo and built 6 homes and an office here. This museum exhibits the prairie style he often used in his buildings. A simple warning though, the home is only open to the public during the tour hours which is generally in the late morning ,so make sure you call ahead to find out the scheduled times for that day.

One of the last few places you should see before calling a day would have to be located in the Elmwood neighborhood. This neighborhood is not only home to the Delaware park and Albright-Knox Art Gallery, but also home to many local boutiques and local art galleries. There is also international eateries, bars, and sidewalk cafes if you happen to be a food carnivore. If you happen to be in town during the NFL (sept.-Jan.) or the NHL (Oct-April) you have even more things to do and see. You can spend the day cheering on the Bills or Sabres and unwind at Mohawk Place, which is the nearby bar where sports enthusiasts tend to come for a drink before or after the games. So no matter where you go in Buffalo, New York you will find something for everyone in your family. Rather you enjoy shopping, food, art, or even sports. You will always find a piece of your heart in Buffalo.
