Late Night with Conan O'Brien is a talk show on NBC hosted by Conan O'Brien that has been on the air since 1993. The show features celebrity guests and comedy sketches and has been nominated for an Emmy award 20 different times in the past 14 years. However, the popular late night show has never won an Emmy.
The Late Show with David Letterman is another late night talk show hosted by the incomparable David Letterman. The CBS show features A list celebrity guests and has been nominated for over 50 Emmys in various categories over the past 14 years that the show has been on the air. The Late Show with David Letterman has won Emmys in several different categories 9 times. The show has won the Emmy in the category of Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series in 1994, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002.
Real Time with Bill Maher is a comedy series on HBO hosted by the politically charged comedian Bill Maher. The show has been airing on HBO since 2003 and features celebrity guests discussing the political issues of the day. Real Time with Bill Maher has been nominated for an Emmy award 5 times in the past 4 four years, but has yet to take home an Emmy.
The Colbert Report is a very funny show that currently airs on Comedy Central hosted by Stephen Colbert. The show parodies real new shows such as the O'Reilly Factor. The Colbert Report has been nominated for 4 Emmys since it began in 2005, but has never won. This year, the show is nominated in the category of Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series plus, it is nominated for 3 other Emmy awards.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is another great show on Comedy Central hosted by the incredibly talented Jon Stewart. The show features celebrity guests and political commentary. The Daily Show has been on the air since 1996 and it has been nominated for 18 Emmy awards prior to this year. The show has won 9 Emmy awards in various categories including the category it is nominated in this year. In addition to the nomination for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series this year, the show is nominated in 4 other categories.
Although all of these shows are entertaining and deserving of the praise of the critics and the fans, there can be only one winner. So who will it be? The predictions are in and most agree that the winner of the Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series Emmy will go to The Daily Show which won the award in 2006, 2005, 2004, and 2003.
