The nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series are as follows:
"30 Rock" on NBC
"Entourage" on HBO
"The Office" on NBC
"Two and a Half Men" on CBS
"Ugly Betty" on NBC
In case you aren't familiar with the nominees, here is a brief synopsis of the shows:
"30 Rock" is a hit show on NBC that chronicles the life of the head writer of a sketch comedy show. The show's star-Tina Fey-is also one of the head writers and an executive producer along with her former "Saturday Night Live" boss Lorne Michaels. The show has been on NBC since 2006 and is up for four different Emmy awards this year.
"Entourage" has been running on HBO since 2004. The show centers around movie star Vince Chase and his "Entourage" of friends that he brings to Hollywood from New York. "Entourage" is up for four Emmy awards this year.
"The Office" is another hit show on the NBC network. The quirky show has been on the air since 2005 and stars the talented (and Emmy nominated) Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson. The show is based on a BBC series and documents the happenings in the office of a paper supply company in Pennsylvania. "The Office" is nominated for four Emmy awards this year.
"Two and a Half Men" is a hilarious sitcom on CBS starring Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer as brothers who live together along with Jon Cryer's character's son. "Two and a Half Men" started airing on CBS in 2003 and has been a hit ever since. The show is nominated for five Emmy awards this year.
"Ugly Betty" is the smash hit comedy that everyone is talking about on NBC. The show began in 2006 and chronicles the life of Betty Suarez who works at a fashion magazine with beautiful women whom she does not resemble in the least. The show is based on a Columbian television program. This year, it is nominated for five Emmy awards and has won a slew of other entertainment awards.
Of these funny shows, sadly only one can win. The decision will be a tough one, but my opinion is that "Ugly Betty" will come out on top. The show has generated so much hype in the past year and it is extremely popular with audiences and critics alike.
