What Type of Foundation is Right for Your Skin Type?

BS
Makeup is a tool many women use to enhance their beauty and cover up flaws. Although makeup can add beauty and draw attention to certain features, if it is not applied correctly, it can draw attention for all the wrong reasons. Foundation is a very important of applying makeup, and a lot of the most common mistakes in makeup are made with foundation. There are many different types of foundation and even more shades, the most important factor in great foundation is finding the right one for your skin shade and type. Here is a guide to the types of foundation and how well they go with the different skin types.

Cream foundation

Cream foundation is by far the thickest and heaviest type of foundation there is out there. This type of foundation usually comes in a stick form or in a compact, although it can sometimes be found in a jar. This type of foundation is usually used by those who have acne scars, or any other types of flaws in their skin that are very noticeable, because it covers those flaws very well. Cream foundation usually works well with all skin types, but for those with oily skin, it probably won't be your first choice. Since it is so thick, it can be bad for those with oily skin.

Liquid foundation

Liquid foundation is probably the most commonly used type of foundation. There are two different bases for this type of foundation, oil and water. The different base option make liquid foundation great for people who have oily skin and people who have the dry skin. The trick is knowing which base goes with which skin. Oil based foundation is best for those with oily skin and water based is best for those with dry skin. Liquid foundation is probably the most popular because it is so easy to apply, but it is also very easy to notice if you don't apply it well. Make sure that you rub this in fully so that no lines can be seen, this should not be very hard if the shade of your foundation matches your skin tone.

Liquid to powder foundation

This foundation is always found in an compact and needs to be applied with a tool especially for your foundation, like a sponge or a brush. Liquid to powder foundation applies like liquid foundation but dries like a powder foundation. It usually dries fast, which some people hate, but others love. This type of foundation does not work well with dry skin. Because of its texture, it can often emphasize wrinkles and lines, which is not something any woman wants to people focusing on. It can also be hard to wash off, so for those with dry skin, there are much better options out there for you.

Powder foundation

Powder foundation cannot be applied with your hands, so you will need a brush when putting it on. Powder foundation, is just that powder, and because of this it does not work well for those who have dry skin because it has no water base to keep skin hydrated. This type of foundation is best for those who have oily skin, because it goes on very easily and makes the skin appear less oily, while covering up any flaws.
