What Type of Traveller Are You?

To travel is defined by a change of location of people on a trip from one place to another by means of transportation. The form of travel can vary from personal motorized vehicle, to mass transportation, or even by what can be referred to animal ambulation...walking. Of course there are advantages and disadvantages to these various forms of travel, but in any case, getting from point A to point B is the primary goal of the traveller.

The word Traveller or traveler is spelled two ways, traveler (American English) and traveller (British English). The pronunciation is the same, it is just a matter of partiality, and of course where you were born and live. As for the known type of travellers, they can be distinguished as followed. These are the Permanent or Perpetual Traveller, the Family Vacation Traveller, the Luxury Traveller, the Touring Traveller, the Adventure Traveller, the Peer Group Traveller, the Business Traveller, the Worker Traveller, and the RVer/Camper Traveller. A traveller can be categorized in just one or all of these types of travellers; this is all depending on the individual's preferences and lifestyle. As for the RVer/Camper Traveller, this may be considered as a leisure activity, but because of its popularity and growing trend, we can classify this as a type of travel for the travellers in all of us.

RVer/Camper Traveller

This traveller type can be considered as a way of journeying with your home away from home. It is an ever-growing means of travel and has been embraced by many who like to explore different location where ever rubber tires can be driven. There are many classes of recreational vehicles (RV) to be had and choosing the right one can vary on the traveller's circumstances and needs. An RV can be rented, purchased new, or purchased used. This is a growing and popular means of travel for economical and flexibility reasons. It can be recognized that the RVer/Camper Traveller will fit into many of the other traveller types due to fact that a recreational vehicle will provide amenities that travellers without one could not obtain. A modern perpetual vagabond will find that the truck camper is ultimately the best RV for his or her lifestyle.

The Worker Traveller and The Business Traveller

These two types of travellers are very similar since they both travel for the same reasons. Their purpose of travelling is for economical reasons and is necessary for them to earn a living. The Business Traveller will travel from one destination to the other but will always have a home base to return too. The Worker Traveller will travel where ever the work takes them or is available to sustain their lifestyle. Either way, they are both very busy travellers and their means of getting from one place to the other is left to their own desire.

The Peer Group Traveller

The Peer Group Traveller is an individual that travels with other people that are part of particular social netting such as a church, a school, an age group, a social activity, and many other group associations. They will travel to destinations that hold similar interest for the travelling group as a whole.

The Adventure Traveller

The Adventure Traveller takes trips for one particular reason, to participate in a physical activity and/or to explore new experiences. They will travel to exciting, remote, and sometimes even dangerous locations. They are usually thrill seekers, participators of extreme sports, or just people looking to get away from their everyday routine by adding a little spice into their life.

The Touring Traveller

This traveller's purpose is to experience an assortment of monumental, popular, and eventful areas of destination. They will stopover in regions of interest that have an impact on their own personal lives or on many as a culture. Such places can be concerts and theatres, sport events, gaming and gambling facilities, monuments, museums, natural and manmade wonders of the world, or anything that the traveller may find interesting to them.

The Luxury Traveller

The Luxury Traveller is the trekker that enjoys the finer things in life. This traveller will seek destinations that provide indulgence in and enjoyment of riches, comfort, and a splendid style. These destinations are usually resorts or travel vehicles which provide luxurious services to the traveller, it is also a very dear way of travel and is not suitable for all vagabonds.

Family Vacation Traveller

Taking a family vacation is a great way for mom, dad, and their children to catch up on quality time as well as a means of getting away from the everyday life of work and school. These travellers are usually scheduled and well organised since they are taking vacation time off their workplaces and schools. The family vacationer is a very flexible type of traveller since they can participate in all other categories of travelling mentioned in this article all depending on their preferences and lifestyles.

The Perpetual Traveller

According to some definitions "The term perpetual traveler (PT, permanent tourist or prior taxpayer) refers to both a lifestyle and a philosophy." Wikipedia's definition. The Permanent (Perpetual) Traveller can also be considered a modern vagabond. The Modern Vagabond lifestyle is a chosen one which permits a traveller to journey without limitations, such as a retired individual or resourceful drifter. In today's society, there is monetary cost involved for almost everything, however depending on one's standards; living frugally can be accomplished without undue stress and travelling within these means can be accomplished. One can almost argue that The Gypsy Way of life is similar to The Permanent or Perpetual Traveller way of life.
