What is a Vector Illustration?

Thexyz Network
A vector illustration is an improved version of digital illustration. In previous years we have seen print and web graphics alike that have been pasted and incorrectly resized to designers specifications with pixel blurring. These were the standard raster/bitmap graphics that were only able to be made to a specific size.

Now the world of vector illustrations has open up, it is now easy to find, purchase and make effective and efficient use of that image. And one of the best reason's to go vector is the size and accessibility you can get from just one file.

A vector illustration uses a mathematical formula so when the user decides to upscale of downscale the size of the image, it will not become distorted with magnified pixels.

As for accessibility, the jpeg and EPS files that stem from the vector are widely used and recognized in the graphics industry. If you were to have a 200 ft billboard printed or a t-shirt design replicated, then a vector is the one and only file needed.

This new form of art has provoked a new style and technique into image making. Thousands of artists now contribute to a number of agencies , where millions of vector illustrations are available to purchase and download for the price of a coffee.
