What was That, He was a Good Cop?

Conroe Police Seem to Have a Bit of a Problem

JD
Monte Morast one of Conroe ,Texas's finest is in some really deep trouble, who is Monte Morast? he was a police officer heavily involved in the Arrests and convictions of both Jason Burkett and Michael Perry, This fine upstanding member of the police force true colours are finally shining through.

It seems that last month Officer Monte Morast was officially fired from his job as a Conroe Police officer after being charged with "Official Oppresion" and the felony charge of "Unlawful Restraint of a Child" afer allowing Jail inmates to make a student of Excel Acadamy remove his clothes and spread vasaline on his backside whilst on a Jail tour in March of 2007.

Excel Acadamy is a " Recovery Focused prepratory boarding school for teenagers" according to is website, its focus is to turn under achieving, unmotivated children into Responsible highly functioning adults. Morast's role at the school was to 'scare' students with behaviour problems by taking them to Montgomery County Jail, he threw the child to ground, handcuffed him and took him to the jail, where the incident occured.

The Jail tour is part of Excel Acadamy's program to show student what jail is like in the hopes of encouraging them to make correct choices in life. Morast was doing his job in taking the child into the jail. his lawyer added that there was a school monitor present also. the child or his parents filed the complaint and it was investigated by the Texas rangers.

Morast has been a police officer with the Conroe police for about 10 years and is discribed as a dedicated officer, and a good cop.

I dont know about you but taking a child into a jail and allowing him to forced to remove his clothing by inmates does not sound as if it is going to encourage him to become a highly functioning adult. and to have a police officer allow this to happen is a disgrace. and the fact that it has taken over a year for this officer to be held accountable for his actions is a joke.

WELL DONE CONROE FOR HAVING SUCH WONDERFUL PEOPLE EMPLOYED AS POLICE TO HONOUR THE MOTTO ON THE BADGE

"WE CARE"

And I knew the student this happened to. I never liked the kid, but I was responsible for him for many months and knew him for 15 or 16 months. This kid was no monster. He was a socially awkward attention seeker. He got slapped with the scape goat title and the rest preciprocated.

First off Jail tours were never anything my parents agreed to when I went to Excel. Monte's job was to escort students from civilian status to patient status safely. Jail tours were never a part of this mans job description. I know this because my parents never agreed to this when the school reccomended monte as an escort. This was a typical exercise of Excels Power once again. unlawful restraint was a common get down at Excel. I garuntee you this situation unfolded purely becasue of unlawful restraints. I witnessed it for 2 years, and many before me did the same. I cant even count how many confrontations spiraled out of control due to staff getting physical with students when the student displayed no aggression. This undeserved restraint would cause a student to fight back. Then the school charges them. When they get out of jail or trade sentance for extended custody order over the student they end up right back at the school for even longer. Makes sense that students would stay there for 3, 4, 5 years sometimes-that is with tuition close to $5000 a month per student

The Montgomery Co Sherriff's Dept needs some serious investigation. They are ridiculously corrupt and anyone who has had a brush with these little boys calling themselves men just because they have a silly badge knows it. I was arrested after flipping off a group of them after they used excessive force on my husband, then they called me chickenshit for running away from three grown men threatening to tase me... Who's the chicken shit, the 120 lb woman or the three big men chasing her with tasers?? Morast is just another of the "good old boys" They all get away with whatever they want to and use their badge as a reason. The simple truth is this kid was his responsibility and he failed to take care of him. He couldn't be bothered to do his job and watch out for his JUVENILE prisoner's well-being. And to you Globetrotter-- How would you feel if this had been your son or daughter mistreated so badly? It doesn't matter the kid's past crimes, it was Morast's job to protect him. This ma

there is always a better way then to abuse children, its not acceptable to do what he did to a juvenile no matter what. I am sorry that you feel that this may have benefited you, but I will tell you the chances are that you would have been traumatized by it.

  • Wish Morast had worked with me growing up2/24/2008

Maybe if Officer Morast has scared me straight that would have worked. Instead I went to jail at 18 and learned what Officer Morast may have been trying to show the kid. Only good thing I got out of prison was an real education (college degree) and another education that the kid learned the easy way. I back Morast on this. Parents failed, maybe Morast didn't.

Did you know his wife also works at this school as a coach?? Please help us. Things are worse than this.

Globetrotter- I have to say to you that there is never ever an excuse to abuse a juvenile, Monte Morast broke the law and the fact that he wore the badge of law enforcement is a slap in the face of all the men and women that take pride in being a police officer. I dont care if this young boy turned 18 the next day the fact is he was a juvenile and a human being and regardless of his past no one should be subjected to such a humiliation and degredation. I agree with Taz Morast is a slimeball.

  • Texan (but not from Conroe)-Thank goodness!!2/12/2008

Did he wait for all the evidence to be in before he condemned Perry and Burkett? He perjured himself at their trials. What makes him so special to think he should get away with breaking the law?? If taking a juvenile to the county jail and having inmates put vaseline on his buttocks, is what you think is fair and okay, then you are as sick as he is. He also took Perry (thinking he was a juvenile) to the jail.. and booked him. He bonded out as a juvenile. This whole story is becoming weirder and weirder. Keep writing Taz. I am so glad my neice told me about this site. I was taught to trust the law. Now, after reading all this, I fear them. The unjust and crookedness in this county is disgraceful. The governor should check into all of this himself.

  • Fed up Montgomery County citizen2/12/2008

Globetrotter - you must be a Montgomery Co. lawman -- Facts are facts. How do you want to weigh them? What Monte Morast did was illegal..period. Most if not all law men in this town feel they are above the law. The child was a juvenile, I do not care if his birthday was the next day. He was a juvenile. I personally hope he owns Montgomery Co., the school, and everything Monte Morast has when this is over. But I live here in this town and i know how it usually goes here. As Mont. Co citizen says " He will pay the judge off and walk out a free man." For the normal citizens, You have to prove your innocence, instead of the State having to prove your guilt. Having the inmates put vaseline on his buttocks was humiliating I am sure. Too bad it could not happen to him!! He is a slime ball!
