What was That?

What was that? I heard a noise. I was in the woods, and animals were all around. It was dark. I couldn't tell where the noise was coming from. Was it a bird? Was it a tree falling? It couldn't of been the wind. It could of been an animal. I wonder what the sound was? I am really scared. I can't see in the dark. It is so cold. I wonder if someone is there. I wonder what I should do. I wonder which way I should go. It could be a wild animal. O I don't know who it is. If I could only see. Maybe it will be morning soon. Maybe then I will be able to see my way out of the woods. I will be glad when the daylight comes. I will then be able to see what the sound is. It followed me all through the woods. There must be somebody following me. I will try not to make a sound. I sure wish it were daylight, so I could at least see the ground.

The sun started to peek through the trees. There were shadows as well. Everywhere I looked I couldn't see anything there, but the trees, and the shadows. O if only I were home in bed, with my mother and father right there, watching me. If only I could find something to eat. But what if I eat a berry on the bush. Maybe it is one of those poison berries. Maybe if I drink the water in the brook. Maybe is is full of dead fish. O what do I do. Won't somebody help me. I'm scared.

There goes that noise again. It is daylight now and I can find my way out of the woods. I am almost there. There goes that noise again. It soulds like a person. O no, what do I do. The sound is coming closer. I am almost out of the woods now. It is daylight and I am close to home. Do you think the sound will come, too?

I sure hope my mom is there. Or at least my brother. I hope there is somebody there. What if the door is locked?
