What to Watch on Television when LOST is Over

Andrea Rowe
It is difficult but becoming necessary to think about what television shows we will watch when LOST is over. This being the last season, the long enjoyed LOST is rapidly coming to an end. What will LOST fans theorize over when the show is complete? What television shows out there can possibly take its place? I don't believe any show can take the place of LOST but the science-fiction, mystery loving geek in me has been searching for a show that will help buffer the loss of what has been my favorite television show for the past six years.

My husband and I recently began watching Flash Forward on ABC. Flash Forward is based on an event that causes the entire planet to black out for over two minutes and experience a scene from the future. In trying to understand what happened, the FBI decides to investigate by using a combined database where people share their experiences during the black-out called the Mosaic. Many questions arise-if you knew your fate, would you change it? What caused the blackout and will it happen again? Why did some people not have a flash forward? Who caused the blackout? Many more questions exist. LOST is all about questions and Flash Forward has many questions left to answer. Flash Forward has several of the same actors from LOST and this may also help buffer our loss a little bit.

V is another television show in ABC I have watched that may help buffer the loss of LOST. I have not seen every episode of V but the basic synopsis is a group of people more advanced in technology than we are appear on what resembles an alien spaceship and have more advanced technology than we do. Who the visitors are and what their motive truly is becomes more evident with each passing episode. Because there is mystery and again some of the same actors who play in LOST are cast in V, this may help buffer our loss to a degree.

Fringe is a television show others have suggested to me that may help buffer our loss of LOST. Fringe is a television show on FOX. Fringe is currently beginning its second season which is when I began watching LOST so it isn't too late to begin watching the show and learning what it is about. Fringe is apparently a division of the FBI. A lot of mystery is involved in the show. A special agent enlisted the help of a scientist to save her partner from a horrible death. The FRINGE team including this scientist imagines and tests impossibilities when they investigate unbelievable events, odd crimes, and cases involving fantastical theories.

Other shows that have been recommended to me but I know little about include: Supernatural on CW, Twin Peaks (a 1991 ABC series that was wonderful. I do not believe it is played on networks any more so one would have to find the recordings), Sanctuary on SyFy, and Doctor Who on SyFy.

I watched Lost for the first few seasons and then again this last season. Lately, now that a lot of series/seasons have ended for various shows, I have been watching older series that I have not watched in a while.

I've never watched Lost, and I've never even heard of any of the other shows you mentioned, which I think is pretty funny!

Haha. I'm not into those shows, so I think I'll watching sitcoms and Disney.
