They can see the world without a heart
They see what's visible but not the hidden
Eyes and heart can be miles apart
While a heart must remain open
It should not rule all that we do
Sometimes, emotion though well intentioned
Allows pain and blurred truth to shine through
I wish there was a true measure
To tell us the balance between our heart and eyes
To show us when we rely on vision too much
When our emotions threaten to project only lies
We need to learn to balance
Thinking with our heart and our head
We need to see and feel at the same time
So that life does not become filled with regret or dread
