What is the Weather like in the Fall in Pueblo, Colorado

Comfortable fall weather usually greets the more than 100,000 people who flock to Pueblo, Colorado, in September for its signature event, the three-day, outdoor Loaf 'N' Jug Chile and Frijoles Festival. Pueblo is south of Denver and Colorado Springs, off Interstate Highway 25.

Average High Temperatures

Fall in Pueblo means gradually cooler weather. Although September averages a daily high of 83 degrees F, by October that average high drops to 71 degrees. By late November, daily high temperatures usually hover in the 50s.

Average Low Temperatures

Fall also brings considerably cooler daily low temperatures. Pueblo experiences average lows of 49 degrees in September, 36 degrees in October and 24 degrees in November. It is not unusual to see snow during the fall, especially in late October and November.

Precipitation

Fall months in Pueblo are usually drier in terms of precipitation than other times during the year. According to the National Weather Service, the earliest recorded first snowfall was Sept. 10, in 1898. Conversely, the latest the city waited for its first snow of the season was Dec. 7, 1901.

Record High Temperatures

Occasionally, Pueblo experiences extreme temperatures during fall. The highest fall temperature on record was 102 degrees for the month of September, which was 19 degrees over the average high. October's record 93 degrees measures 22 degrees above normal, while November's 78 degrees exceeds the month's typical reading by 29 degrees.

Record Low Temperatures

On the flip side of Pueblo's record highs are its record lows. September's record low of 25 degrees deviates from the average temperature by 24 degrees. October's low of 5 degrees sits 31 degrees below normal, while November's bone chilling -10 degree temperature is 34 degrees below normal. Overall, according to record-keeping, extreme weather occurs more frequently in the late fall and winter months than during the spring and summer.
