San Francisco is the mecha for major cultural events. Getting out to enjoy the holiday themed activities can be budget friendly on the wallet. From now until the New Year some major hot spots are set-up with winter wonderland attractions. Take time to learn something new, and have fun in the city.

Academy of Sciences
With its new 400,000 square foot building located inside of Golden Gate Park visitors can see over 25 million species of natural life. This humongous center has a Natural History Museum, Planetarium, Aquarium, Rain forest Dome and Research Institute. Over 400 PhD. Qualified scientists have compiled data to be shown for presentation. Currently the 'Tis the Season for Science is on display. Come out to see arctic igloos, live performances, learn the cause of the Northern Lights, play along in holiday craft or just go on tours. Hours are Monday- Saturday 9:30am - 5:30pm, Sunday 11am - 5 pm. Admission prices are: $29.95 for adults, $19.95 for children aged 4-11, and Free for children under 3. Cartoon Art Museum
Established in 1987 by the Charles M. Schulz foundation, this site is home to over 6,000 pieces of drawings known as animated cartoons. Their collection includes comic books, cartoons of modern and vintage eras and more. Experts in their staff regularly host lectures, workshops and classes for youths and adults. Family events are scheduled as well to incentive that young people learn more about what they see on television. Every first Tuesday of the month is "Pay what you want day". Asian Art Museum
Is also known as the Chong-Moon Lee Center for Asian Art. This collection was started in the 1970's by a well-known art collector. This site is now home to over 7,000 unique pieces of Asian Art. Regular workshops, hands on games, performances, crafts and family events are provided each month. During the holidays, come out to celebrate Japanese New Year. The day long event will take place on January 8th from 12-4pm. A pounding ceremony will take for the making sweet rice cakes.
