San Francisco International Airport, also known as SFO, is one of the nicest airports in the world and many people travel through this airport from Asia as they travel to the United States and beyond.
Here are some things to do if you find yourself stuck at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) with nothing to do. If you have a long layover, you might even think about taking the BART train directly to the city for a few hours of fun.
Airport Web Site and Maps
First, check out the SFO Web site for all information regarding San Francisco International Airport. This site can give you plenty of information on flights, airport maps, ground transportation, driving directions and parking.
Next, if you are unfamiliar with SFO, check out their maps page. This will help you out a lot because you can print out the maps and have a good idea about where to go in the airport to check in and where to go to get something to eat or something to buy after you passed through the security area and are just waiting for your flight.
Music and Entertainment
SFO has plenty of free music and entertainment for your listening pleasure. Visit the "You are Hear" Web page for the dates and times of these free concerts. Most of the concerts will happen in either the International Terminal and Terminal 1 before you pass through security, and in Terminal 3 after the security check-in area. The concerts are held around noon, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dining at SFO
If you and your family are hungry and want something other than airplane food, check out the list of restaurants and eating areas at SFO. Here is the alphabetical listing of all SFO eateries, and here is the main index for restaurants at SFO. There is a lot more than just regular fast food. Make it a fun time at the restaurant and relax and stretch out before the next part of your flight.
Shopping at SFO
Do you like to shop? Well, SFO has plenty of options for you. Just check out this list of all of the shopping opportunities available for you at SFO. Many of the items are available duty free. Just get through the security gates and look for the duty-free shops.
Traveling Season
This traveling season will be more hectic than ever. Try and be extra patient and considerate as you travel through airports. Remember that the security people are just doing their jobs when they screen people. Keep a smile and say nice things every chance you get. Enjoy your vacation.
