What Will Be Recorded About You in God's "Book of Life"

When You Stand Before God, Will He Smile and Say "Well Done" or Will He Shake His Head in Dissappointment?

Malina Debrie
Have you ever wondered about the 'Book of Life?" If you are a Christian, or even if not, you probably have heard of the Book of Life in which all your work on earth has been or is being recorded. In this book, every work performed while here on earth is being recorded. That means every deed done, is being written down and will one day be brought back to you as a reminder. Every deed performed will be one day reflected upon.

What do you want to be reminded of when you meet our creator? Surely, if you are a person of reasonable intelligence, you know we have a creator. We were not just all of a sudden here. A very intelligent being decided to one day create man. And in deciding to 'create' us, he also placed some requirements on us. We did not just happen. There was some intelligence that brought us into 'being.' We are what is now been described as the "intelligent design."

So, the requirements that are placed on us are set out in a book called the 'Bible.' The Bible is our instructional guide inspired by God established and provided for all mankind which defines how man must act in every situation while here on earth. A friend of mine once defined what the letters of the Bible meant:

B - Basic
I - Instructions
B - Before
L - Leaving
E - Earth

God defined in the Bible how we are suppose to act, react, and interact with each other while here on earth in order to guarantee our entrance into Heaven. If we read His word and abide by His will, follow His guidance, obey His instructions and adhere to His teachings, we will reap the reward and see Him in Heaven when we cross over to the other side. However, if we do not follow His instructions as directed in the His word, there are consequences we must face when we cross over.

The fact is everything we do is being recorded. Man has a tendency to often forget. I remember when I first became a supervisor. I would often fail to record or document employee actions that required discipline. It was often those very actions that the employees never remembered. They called me on those very ones whenever we got into our meetings. Never did they fail to forget those exceptional events when their performance was good, but every time there was an issue warranting discipline, I was the only person who remembered the incident. I began to refer to these incidents as an employees episodes of 'selective memory' issues.

It's always very easy for anyone and everyone to remember the things they do which are good. God forgets nothing. Absolutely anything and everything we do is remembered by our Father. But, since we tend to have selective memory, we have a 'Book of Life.' In that 'Book of Life' every detail of our lives is recorded. Isn't that a scary thing to think about. Just think! Everything you have ever done is recorded similar to video camera recordings. Everything you did, do and will do has been, will be and is being recorded.

God has a book of information on the deeds you have performed. Can you look back over your life and recall the good things you have done? What about looking back over your life and recalling all the things you are proud of. Then, look back and think of all the things you may be not so proud of. What about all the things you may be ashamed of. Think about the things you wish you could change or do over again. The things you wish you could say differently to someone or the harm you caused that you wish you could undo.

All of the things you did, have done, will do or even are considering doing have been and will be recorded. There is nothing you can do about the things you have done. They are over with, done and cannot be undone. You can only ask God to forgive you for the wrong and try to make amends with the person harmed. However, from this day forward, the things you did that are not pleasing in the eyesight of God can be forgiven by God and you can ask for forgiveness from the person you hurt are caused harm.

When you attempt to do anything, think of these four letters "WWJD"........What Would Jesus Do! None are perfect and we all have fallen short of the glory of God, but we can all try to walk in the will of the Lord daily. We can begin by first saying the Lords prayer each and every morning. In His prayer, we ask that we are guided in doing no evil.
Often, before doing anything, I think of what impact my actions will have on the individual and my walk with my Father. How will He look on me if I do this. Is this something that will glorify the Father in heaven or will it be something the angel of darkness can use in his attempt to defeat the Lord? If it will be a blight on my Fathers kingdom in any manner, I avoid doing it, the action, at any cost.

I am not perfect, because no man is perfect. I do not even consider claiming perfection. But my daily walk is one in which I pray the Lord will be happy and consider me an obedient servant while understanding this obedient servants weaknesses.

When I take my final breath and go home to be with God; when I stand before my Father, I want to hear Him say, "well done my good and faithful servant." I want Him to open the book of life to the page with my name and smile. I do not want him to open the book of life and feel he has to shake His head in disappointment. I want Him to rejoice in the fact that I was an obedient child who drew souls to Him.

What do you want God to see when He opens the Book of Life to your name?

Loved It! I tell people all the time about the BIBLE=Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. They are always facinated by that. So far I think God is smiling about me, but it never hurts to make His smile bigger!

Yes, Welcome back BIG TIME my friend. You were missed. This message about the book was in a message I gave and it is soooo good. I heard Dr. Charles Stanley say last Sunday that "Jesus will not reward you with what you gained here on earth but by what you gave away". I love that.

Thankfully when we are forgiven, we have the assurance that; although our sins are recorded, Jesus has drawn a line through them and marked them as paid in full.

Good words to ponder and remember.
