What Would You Gift a Guy Who is Retiring?

Keith Dailey
Do you think you can keep an active man chained to his armchair or desk at home, after retirement? Think again, dear reader, for he will be on the constant lookout for new horizons to explore and further thrills that life has to offer! Retiring from a job is not going to make a whit of a difference! It cannot really be helped-males were built different from females! Now, the best way to encourage him on the next stage of life's journey is to present him with the perfect retirement gift; something that he will remember for years to come!

A man who is retiring is nearing the age when he will step into his "second childhood". So, why not bring back memories of his "kid-dish days"? Unfulfilled boyish longings can be realized now. And mind you, each one of us harbors desires that never got to see the light of day! Thus, video games or a computer gaming console, electronic gadgets, special collections such as favorite comics or figurines of famous superheroes, or collections of certain memorabilia such as remote-controlled toys (helicopters, airplanes, speedboats)-are some of the gifts that can be given. Of course, you are welcome to come up with further innovative presents!

Again, adolescence is no less exciting for a boy! These years are also remembered for their fun-filled moments, for boys get into their teenage years with as much enthusiasm and energy as they did when they were children! There could be desires harbored during those years of puberty that a retiree would like to be brought back. If your retiree remembers his school band days with particular fondness, an electric guitar would make the perfect gift for him! Someone who loved shooting would welcome an air-soft rifle of good quality! Working on his favorite hobby will take care of the long and lonely hours. Additionally, his wife and children would be pleased to see him so occupied and out of their hair; for an unoccupied retiree will often tend to interfere in the running of the household and mess up things!

Now, all retirees are not interested in remembering their past lives. Some are more interested in looking towards the future. Such a retiree would like to feel that he is useful for something even now-blame it on the testosterone flowing in his veins! So, maybe you could get him a motorbike? He would feel grateful to you for keeping his macho image intact and not letting him feel old! In contrast, some retirees might welcome garage crafting equipment.
Of course, we are sure you could come up with more of such innovative gifts! Just ensure that the spark is never dimmed in the male retiree's eyes, and he will never regret being at home!
