What Would You Do If You Could Turn Back the Hands of Time?

Do you ever wonder what would you do if you could turn back the hands of time? Most of us live with regrets. We think of the life that has passed us by and wonder if we had done something differently would our life have been any different.

Then some know that if they had done things differently, their lives would have been a far cry from the life they live today. On November 7, 2010, and each November of every year until our president once again decides to either cancel or extend Daylight Savings Time, our clocks will be turned back one hour. Yet, turning back the clocks one hour will not change those things that happened within that past hour.

If you could turn back the hands of time for one hour, would you change anything within your control from the occurrences during the previous hour? A life lived completely trouble free can be drastically impacted in a split second.

Millions would say if they had it to do over again, they would have said 'I love you.' to a loved one. Yet within the next second, someone in your household may not be there anymore.

Have you thought about the impact each second of life has on your life? If not, you need to take a moment now and think about the things that have happened in the past and how quickly those same things could happen again.

What would you do if you had the last twenty years of your life back? I thought about this today as I was reading an AC article regarding time change 2010. I reflected on how easy it is to say we will gain one hour that weekend. We can sleep longer, we can have a longer period to worship the Lord and reflect on His goodness. Yet, we have lost the prior hour. It's gone. That time is history never to return again.

But, if you had it to do over, what would you do differently? I thought about this and here are just a few of the things I would have done differently.

I would have sought the Lord and began to love and build my relationship with Him immediately upon realizing I was alive.

I would have confessed Jesus Christ as my savior. Because today, I have a peace that surpasses all understanding. It is even hard to understand why I do not worry. But I know He has all power in His hand and I pray that He keeps holding my hand.

I would have kissed my parents each day of their lives and told them how much I loved them because today I only have the memories.

I would have had my sons at least 3 years apart and not the average of 8 yrs between the three of them. But maybe not, because as I watch them, their love seems to be so deep for each other that sometimes I feel left out.
I would have saved at least $100 a month from the day I became employed.

Would have talked with my siblings or at least one of them daily. We try to have a conference call every holiday. When we get on the phone together, our conversations last for hours. Even though we are miles apart, we feel that we are right in the same room together during this call.

My list can go on and on. But I choose to stop here. However, before I end this article, I want to reflect on the fact that I, like no one else living, can do nothing to change the past or the actions I regret being a part of my past. What I like everyone else can do is learn from those actions, mistakes or successes, and begin today to make a change in my life.

I challenge you to think of the regrets you may have of those years that have passed and are now gone. Learn from those regrets, cast them into the sea of forgetfulness, move forward with your life today and make every day the best you can, live each day to its fullest. Don't regret not failing to do something today, tomorrow or next week.

Each day we live, we are granted time from God. He is allowing you and I another day to do those things we feel necessary in addition to those things that will draw you closer to Him. God wants each and every one of His children to enjoy the life we have. He wants us to reflect on Him from the time we rise in the morning to the evening when you lie down.

The day is coming when you will place your head down for the last time. Your life then will be over. Do you want to go to sleep on that last day regretting and never applauding the life you lived and loved?

Today's' Prayer

"Heavenly Father, you have allowed me one more day to live. One more day to prepare myself. I do not know when the day or hour will come when you will call me Home. I want to make this day a day that if it is my last, I will have made a difference in someone's life. I want this day to be a day that will be acceptable to you Lord. A day that you reflect on my actions in encouraging and drawing souls to you Lord. Lord help me to live this day glorifying the Father in Heaven through all my actions and words. In the powerful, precious name of Your Son Jesus I pray. Amen"
