Making a paste out of baking soda will remove stains from plastic containers and utensils. Apply paste with sponge. For added benefit to removing those hard on stains add lemon juice to the paste.
STOP! Save those used sponges and renew their life by soaking them overnight in a solution of 4 Tbs. of baking soda and vinegar to 1 quart of warm water. Use this same concoction to clean greasy, hard baked pots and pans. Just let them soak for 30 minutes to an hour and Swish! sparkling clean. To top it off, vinegar is a natural anti-bacterial so will sanitize those nasty pans as well. For hard encrusted casserole dishes add baking soda and vinegar with boiling water to loosen food. This is even safe for enamel cookware.
Baking soda can be used to clean floors as well. Its perfect to remove black marks from linoleum and tile. Just use on damp sponge or rag, using on floor when mopping; add to your bucket of water. not only does it clean and sanitize, it helps remove soap buildup.
To treat drains to prevent clogs; pour 1/2 cup baking soda down drain, followed by 3 cups boiling water. OR use 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar to foam clean the drains.
Tried everything to remove white rings from wood furniture and they are still there? What should you use that is effective? Why, baking soda of course! Just use equal amounts of baking soda and toothpaste and rub the rings out of the wood.
To freshen up laundry, add 1/2 cup baking soda to the wash with your detergent, this will help detergents to work better and prevent soap build up from the fabrics.
For tired, achy feet; prepare a foot bath using warm water and 4 Tablespoons of baking soda. Soak for 10 minutes. Will also help soften rough and hardened callouses and heels.
Use as a hand soak to soften cuticles and hands. Just use baking soda with nail brush to clean nails.
Baking soda can also be use in the garage to help remove oil spills. Just sprinkle on area and let soak one hour and sweep away.
To use in the yard; water flowers once monthly with baking soda water, use a weak mixture to help alkaline the soil. Perfect for Hydrangeas, geraniums and begonias. Sprinkle baking soda in the garden around tomato plants to help sweeten the tomato by lowering the acidity.
