What is Wrong with You?

Rina
Doing well does not mean I am better than you. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for fourteen years and have practiced good habits to progress to become a better person. There is nothing wrong with a religion that teaches people and its members to have love for your fellow man. My children are learning to have compassion for others without neglecting the need of self. But because my family practice these principles, most of our peers and colleagues shun us at activities while telling each other we are of the devil. What is it that people are scared of? Because I want to do well, does not mean I am better than anyone. I will be the first to say I am not perfect, and making mistakes is a habit for me. The choice to do well should induce positive feelings for the receiver and me alike. When I have lent a hand to help and it induces negative feelings, now that is when I wonder, what is wrong with you?

A degree in anything does not make you my judge and jury. There must have been an unspoken rule that because some have chosen to use four to eight years of their life to receive a degree, their standard of living is above all who do not have a degree. Well, I'm sorry, but some of the "learned" do some dumb things, too. I was at a routine check-up for my children, and a professional waiting with me heard me tell my children to share what they had with the other children. In confidence this professional suggest that we should not share with those particular children because they did not reciprocate the behavior. I assured the professional that whatever we give, we did not expect back. They probably have not had any one share their things with them, therefore having the perception that people don't share. And not knowing their circumstances, nor have I been appointed judge or jury over them, have been taught to practice the greater law; love my neighbor as I love myself (Matthew 22:39). I also observed that if the good habit were practiced continually, would become a good habit forever. Children from birth to five years of age will develop a character that becomes like a fingerprint: when impressed to do something that involves making a decision, they usually do what they have been taught to do forever- the good or the not so good behavior. Children between the ages birth to five cannot fully comprehend the right from the wrong, the moral and immoral values of life that is performed. They have have parents and adults to teach and guide them through it. If parents or adults lose sight of good behavior then our children will surely never see good behavior.

Remember not to compromise good attributes. Have our societies become so vain and thirsty for attention, that all it is left to do is compromise moral values? As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I still remember and have not compromised the attribute of kindness. Sharing is what is means, for me to impart of my substance to another that may lack. I guess I can understand why some people look at my family as esoteric kind of people if the majorities have lost the meaning of applying the simple things. Thus becoming so high-minded they are no earthly good. Everyday is becoming more like what Paul, the apostle has taught long ago, For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears, (2 Timothy 4:3,King James Version, New Testament). Let us practice the goodness of life without getting lost in the letter of things. I believe that it shows how weak we are when we practice a hit for a hit, and a snub for a snub.

Very good article. Keep strong and do not let the world's views compromise what you know to be true and right.
