Another goal of this website is to teach teenagers to fight against peer pressure. "Just because everyone else does it doesn't mean you have to." It teaches individuality and not being influenced by other people. As many people know, many teenagers take drugs because they are pressured to do so, and then get addicted.
This site also contains visual examples. One of them tells of the long term risks of marijuana on the brain. There is a button on each section of the brain, and a little pop-up comes and shows the effects of marijuana. These are very useful and help much more than just words on a screen
One very interesting section is the fun and games. It's amazing how they managed to combine preventing drugs with games and videos. There are many quizzes to take to assess your knowledge of drugs and to see if you are getting pressured by your friends. There is also a fun game called "Supe Your Ride". For every question answered right, you can add a new part to your car, such as a new engine or paint job. There are also funny videos such as "How to Catch a Stoner" and "S.L.O.M." "S.L.O.M." gave a very powerful message. But to know you have to check out the website for yourself ;)
The last section is a called Speak. There are thousands of other people who share their story with the world. And hopefully by sharing their story, teenagers will be prevented from taking drugs, or if need be, stopped from taking drugs. There are also videos and podcasts of true stories.
This is a great site for anyone, although it is targeted towards teenagers, anyone can learn from the website. If any of you are parents, you can show you kids this website. Thanks for reading this article.

Post a CommentCertainly drugs are bad for you, and on that note, we must continue to fight and win the war on drugs by enacting and enforcing complete prohibition of sugar, penicillin, aspirin, ibuprofen, tobacco, alcohol, television, oil and caffeine. We will always be under the influence while the above substances are available, and we must break free from our chemical slavemasters.
Drugs are bad for you. They make you look bad and you start to forget about the way you act,who your real friends are, and you start to not care about yourself. Don't smoke or do drugs just because you friends are or just to fit in. Be smarter than that. Just be yourself.

...and marijuana is really safe. At least someone in the FDA has taken a look at the ingredients and given it a pass. I'm a little more comfortable with someone with some sort of credentials passing this out than a my local pot/meth/crack dealer.
How do try to warn kids of the dangers of drug abuse when they are bombarded with commercials than have people yawning and being told that remedy is Pepsi Max and that America Runs On Dunkin.Power drinks are sanctioned speed and gives the message that people need to alter their brains in order to attain peek performance while athletes are being condemned and penalized for using perfomance enhancing drugs.Caffeine and ginsing and other "herbals" are performance enhancing drugs.Talk about mixed messages.
Redbull is bull and the emergency departments are now treating kids for caffeine overdoses but their is no outcry to ban these substances.
Booze is the number killer on the road and now we have juiced up kids and adults racing to compete with social pressure and corporate pressures win in the business of making money.
