Whatever Happened to Lisa Whelchel?

Denise
Remember the rich character on The Facts Of Life, Blair Warner? Well, the actress Lisa Diane Whelchel is not like the character she portrayed. Lisa was born in Littlefield, Texas in 1963. When she was young, she was shy, so her mother got her into acting classes. It worked because it got her into the New Mickey Mouse club, from 1977-1978. She was a star on many television shows such as "The Double McGuffin", "Where The Red Fern Grows, Part Two" and "The Facts Of Life Goes To Paris". She was on the Facts of Life for 9 years. She continued acting in different roles until the Facts Of Life ended.

Lisa became a born-again Christian when she was 10 years old. Her life is now teaching Christianity. She has written books on many subjects such as raising children, motherhood all from a religious point of view. So serious is she in her Christian beliefs, when a story from the Facts Of Life wanted Blair to be the first to lose her virginity, she did not do it because of religious beliefs and they had to write the part for Natalie instead.

Lisa is also a musician she has written and composed the songs on her album in 1984 called All Because Of You. It got to #17 in Billboard on the Christian charts, and Lisa was nominated for a Grammy for Best Inspiration Album. Songs on the album were "Good Girl", "Cover Me Lord" and "Just Obey". Lisa is also feels strongly about home schooling .

Some books she has published are: Taking Care of the Me in Mommy, The Busy Mom's Guide To Bible Study, The Facts Of Life And Other Lessons My Father Taught Me and So You're Thinking About Homeschooling. She has a website called Creative Correction where you can sign up for her newsletter, listen to her entire album, find out where she will be speaking next, and a store. You can purchase her books, or buy an autograph that she will personally sign for you and send without shipping or handling charges!

Today, she has not appeared in many roles. She was in The Facts Of Life Reunion in 2001, she was part of putting it together and happy to be a part of it. Lisa spends most of her time with her family, home schooling her children and teaching. Lisa is the founder of MomTime Ministries, MomTime Get-A-Ways and also Personal Mom Coaching. She married an Associate pastor, Steven Cauble in 1988. They have three children in their teens, Haven, Tucker and Clancy. They all live in Argyle, Texas.

I knew Lisa when we were real young but don't really remember it much. My mother baby sat her some. Her mother Ginger went to Azle High School with my mom.

But, my grandmother was close to Lisa's grandmother Velma French. Somehow, I got in touch with Velma and she became a great friend. Before I left for an assigment in Europe, Velma had me up to her home in Pittsburgh, TX for lunch. I remember her husband being funny regarding my upcoming transatlantic trip. He had been an aviator in World War II but was adamant that there was no way he would get on a modern day plane.

Velma wrote to me for several years while I served in Europe and sent me pictures of Lisa. Lisa treated her grandmother so well. She would send her various tour packages and let her grandmother choose which one and then Lisa would pay for it. Miss Velma passed away a few years ago and this earth lost a real sweetheart of a lady when she left.
