Having bought and used several different brands of surf wax over the years, I seem to always come back the the same surf wax. The name of the surf wax is Sex Wax. I am not sure why they named it Sex Wax but it has never let me down. It is priced reasonable. Sex Wax has always been easy to apply to my surfboards, it sticks to the surfboards very well. I do not remember ever slipping on any of my surfboards that had a proper application of Sex Wax. It actually stays on the surfboards longer and doesn't melt off your surfboard like some of the other waxes tend to do. I travel with Sex Wax and it doesn't spoil. Other waxes have a tendency to kind of turn sour. Maybe it is the smell that they put in them. But there is nothing like spoiled rotted surf wax in your luggage. Another reason I prefer Sex Wax is its round shape. For some reason the round shape seems to help when applying the wax. It is recommended that you apply surf wax in a circular motion. I used plenty of wax. I apply a base coat first, a pretty thick base coat of surf wax. Them I put on another coat over the base coat . I always keep a base coat on the surfboard. Some people would disagree with this and they put very little surf wax on the surfboard and remove it after each session. I believe that the base coat protects your surfboard and also the coat of surf wax that you put on just before your next session will stick better. If your new coat wears off you still have your base coat and you can keep surfing. I have seen plenty people go to the beach to apply more wax. Or they have to carry their wax with them, which I do on occasion. But its best to get a good firm base coat of Sex Wax on your surfboard before you go surfing. If you haven't guessed yet I recommend Sex Wax because it has always worked and is the best buy for your money. It smells the best also!
