It turns out that the French secret is red wine. They also consume a few glasses of this on a regular--indeed, daily--basis. The red wine cleans out their arteries, helps them metabolize fats, and slows the aging process. Why? It's due, in large part, to a chemical in red wine called resveratrol.
Resveratrol is richly found in the skins of red and purple grapes. It is also abundant in cranberries, blueberries, mulberries, and legumes. The popular dietary supplement grape seed extract contains high levels of resveratrol as well.
Red wine is a dietary staple in the Mediterranean region of the world, but not so much in the United States. This may be due to the remains of the "puritannical" notion that drinking alcohol, at least on any regular basis, is some kind of sin. And it's definitely true that nobody should think that there are any health benefits at all for being a drunkard. Drinking too much of any alcohol on a regular basis can certainly lead to the opposite of health benefits--bodily (and other) harm. But, drinking red wine moderately on a regular basis is not any kind of sin. In fact, much research indicates that just about any alcoholic beverage consumed regularly but moderately can bestow health benefits--although the high concentrations of resveratrol and its particular health benefits is to be found in red wine.
But, in my opinion, one of the very best products that has been produced to give people non-alcoholic resveratrol to help them with weight loss, longevity, heart health, and mitochondrial function is called Resveratrol Select. Now, why do I think this product is one of the best out there and that it should be checked out by the health-conscious?
*One capsule contains as much resveratrol as 200 glasses of red wine.
*It also contains the green tea extract EGCG, which is well-known to help people increase their metabolisms, lose weight, and keep it off with its caffeine and L-theanin content.
*It also contains chromium, a niacin-based mineral that our bodies love but which natural foods can't give us that much of; chromium raises metabolic efficiency for the burning of glucose, fats, and proteins.
*The supply comes with an e-book filled with 70 weight loss and fitness tips, as well as an audio file that trains you in using creative visualization for weight loss.
*You can sign up for a free trial offer--which all authentic, quality products offer, in my opinion.
My take on resveratrol: we should be getting it. You should check out products and foods that contain a lot of it. Resveratrol Select is one of the best sources I've ever found that can deliver it to you.
