What's Your Body Type?

According to Ayurveda traditional medicine, originating from India and practiced in other parts of the world as a form of alternative medicine, all people are ruled by three natural energies: "vatta", air and movement power; "pitta", fire and energy power; and "kapha", earth and growth power. The name Ayurveda means literally "science of life". So, "Ayu" means "life" and "veda" means "knowledge". The purpose of Ayurveda is to reach the balance of these three energies in each individual and the combination, balance and imbalance of them are responsible for the metabolism and body shape. Vatta's body type:

Thin and energetic. These people are imaginative and active. They tend to nervous disturbances, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, cramps, insomnias and stomach problems. The best exercises to this type of body are aerobics, dance, cycling and walking.

Pitta's body type:

Medium weight. These people are organized, efficient and kind but sometimes impatient and intense. They tend to have an aggressive behavior, skin problems, stone bladder, hemorrhoids, gastric ulcers and heartburn. The most appropriated exercises for this body type are swimming, mountaineering, ski and horse riding.

Kapha's body type:

Heavy weight. These people are unconcerned, calm and affective but with few auto-esteem. They tend to have allergies, obesity and heart diseases. The most appropriated exercises for this kind of body are football, fencing, rowing, tennis and race.

Vatta - light weight; weak memory; slow to decide; quick to learn; cheerful; enthusiastic; talkative; sensible to cold; anxious; irregular eating and sleeping habits.

Pitta - medium weight; efficient; meticulous; regular habits; irritable; intolerant; speaks in an abrupt way; impatient; auto critic; loves challenges; sweats easily; doesn't like hot and humid weather.

Kapha - heavy weight; tendency to overweight; pale skin; abundant and thick hair; slow to learn; good memory; kind, cheerful, affective; calm; doesn't like cold.

In accordance with Ayurveda medicine, the natural energies, also known as "doshas", do affect our personality and our lifestyle.
