What's the Deal with Green Tea and is All the Hype True?

Sarah Rachel
Over the years we've heard a lot about the health benefits of green tea. Personally, I've read articles about how it can help you to be more fertile, calm you down, increase your life span and provide mental clarity. We have even see green tea put in many new beauty products. Some of the claims about green tea seem to be pretty big so I decided to research it for myself to find out if all this hype is really true. I wanted to find out what the scientific data said and where all of this new information was coming from. I do consider myself myself to be a health nut. I've research and read about how to improve health through whole food nutrition and I created my own organic web site www.organicliving4you.com .

After really digging into everything I could get my hands on about green tea I found that drinking this powerful tea really can provide you with some added health benefits. Asian people have been drinking green tea for thousands of years and they are some of the healthiest lean people on the planet. Back in 1994 researchers at the Shanghai Cancer Institute compared large populations of people who are drank green tea daily with other populations who never drank it. In their study they found that those people who are non-smokers who also drank green tea had fewer cancers of the esophagus. When I read this study I automatically thought that this could be simply because these people didn't smoke as well, yet other studies seemed to also show a reduced rate of cancer among green tea drinkers.

Looking at a time line you will see that over the years more studies seemed to confirm the amazing health benefits associated with green tea. There was also another study in 2003 that showed the polyphenols found in green tea help to block the development of cell mutations. Green tea contains four main polyphenols which are called catechins. These can also be found in some vegetables, fruits, chocolate, and even wine. They are believed to help protect cells against cancer.

After reading some actual case studies about green tea I have made the decision to start drinking it more often. There are actually so many studies on green tea that it's no wonder many writers are taking notice and continually writing about it. After all if something has helped people for thousands of years it has stood the test of time, and we should include it in our diet.

Case Studies, and helpful information.
