What's the Easiest Muscle Car to Restore

David C. Atkin
I get asked this question all of the time, and the truth is that their all about the same, if this is to be your first muscle car restoration, you might might want to look at restoring a Mustang, or a Camaro either of these cars are usually easy to get parts for.

You need to think about which car you like the most also, sometimes it makes it easier to restore if it's a car that you really love, but the truth of that matter is the less time you spend looking for hard-to-find parts, the more fun you'll have restoring your car.

It really is subjective, what's a hard part of the restoration work to me, may be as easy as the day is long to you, in my opinion you need to start out with a car that doesn't need a lot of work on it, and as you restore more cars, and get more comfortable you can restore the harder cars.

First you need to look that the availability of the parts for whatever car you choose, get a parts list together of the parts that you know you have got to replace, plan out the time that it will take to restore the car, and make sure that you have set aside enough.

Let me explain what I mean by a hard to restore car, if you're looking at buying a car that has the floorboards rusted out of it, and the trunk floor, and rocker panels this may not be a good car for your first restoration, your better off getting a car that you know you can finish.

What you should look for is a car that is in good condition to start with, look for a car that is basically a solid car, take some time to inspect the car before you buy it, the less rust the car has, the better it is for a starter restoration project.

You don't want to get a car that's too rare for your first restoration either, you can do that later, the more rare the car is, the harder the parts will be to find, I'd stay away from Mopar for your first project also, Mopar's are very expensive, and usually very hard to get parts for.

The best thing that could possibly happen on your first restoration project is for to go very smooth all the way through the project, if it goes smooth you'll have a lot more fun, and be more likely enjoy it, so you'll be ready for your next car.

The main goal with your first restoration is to have as much fun as you can, and to complete the project to your satisfaction, believe me you will learn a lot about cars during your first restoration project, and at the end you'll be a proud man, or woman.
