What's Next for the Afghanistan War?

Time to Clear the Air

Ronnie Manns
I have heard a lot of commentators asking questions about the next step of the Afghan War saying that the current strategy may not be working. Many of them can be heard to use the title of "The Longest War in American History" as proof that we should pull out and go home. This has now become the cry of some politicians as well. Honestly I had been leaning the very same way until a thought occurred to me. The word is this has been a nine year war so far but was this strategy and in full swing for all of those years or just since this administration started it?

If this has been the strategy for the entire time that we have been there and in full swing then I must agree with those who say, it's time to close the door and turn out the lights. If this is not then I say give my fellow military members the equipment, and time to do what we do so well. It may not take another year and then it may take a few more but however long it takes do not sit in front of a camera and demean their service by telling them to pack up and come home. Military members do not appreciate being told that they have not fought hard enough to please those in Washington because the only ones whom they are concerned with pleasing are those fighting right beside them. Battlefield terrain will never defeat our military and neither will the history of past battles. What brings our military down faster than anything else is the feeling that those that we are fighting for does not appreciate our sacrifice.

America I beg of you, do not allow your representatives to bring down the spirit of our troops. Tell them to listen quite closely to those on the ground and not allow their party affiliations or political aspirations to dictate which side that they will choose. Do not pretend to care about the plight of our military at any time because military members will see right through it. They are some of the most intelligent people in this universe so treat them as such.
