What's Next for the War in Iraq in 2009?

Kelly Fleming
For a little over five years American soldiers have been fighting for the people of Iraq and the United States. Lives have been lost all over the world over four thousand Americans alone have perished. The cost of this war has reached over five hundred billion dollars. What is next for this Country and the war they have had to endure?

With a new President being announced later this year there is a good chance that American soldiers will now get a chance to come home for good next year. This will help to ease some tension there with the insurgents. Iraqi people need to get back to their way of life they need to feel secure about their homeland and not be afraid to go about their everyday business without someone trying to harm them.

Next year things will change for these innocent people help has been provided from all over the world. People have offered help for rebuilding. A new government has taken form the Iraqi's may never be a democratic nation but now they have a chance to live peacefully like other countries in the world. Education has been worked on for these children. Once everyone receives some form of education they will be able to continue and carry on with what their leaders before them did.

Health is an issue that is starting to be addressed with all of the death, disease comes along. Many non-profit companies have started to build health clinics around Iraq. They are hoping to have over 140 clinics this will bring good medical care that all Iraqi's will have access to.

In the coming years tourists will start to visit Iraq again which will bring in much needed revenue for the country. Building back up Iraq's economic status will be one of the harder accomplishments but everything needs to happen in baby steps to succeed. Healthcare and education reform are playing huge roles for the upbringing of this country.

There is a great change in the near future for the people of Iraq and all over the world. Things are starting to happen to change the way this world helps other people. It is nice to see all of the countries unite and help out each other when things go bad. Hopefully this is a start to other struggling nations and more countries that have not helped this time will help the next time around.

I hope this war is over very soon. My son, who is 23 years old, is currently serving his second tour in Iraq. He has only been in the military for about four years. Thank for your wonderful article. I am trying to remain patient and reserved but I am silently filled with much worry. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
