You may also want to know who sings the vocals. And if you have seen the video, you may be wondering just who is the hot-enough-to-melt-butter at 100 yards Vika Jigulina. The Moscow born DJ and vocalist now lives in Romania. See the video here.
Since Maya and Jigulina began working together, the collaboration has rocketed them both into the realm of international music superstar, even if most Americans have no idea who they are. Yes, Virginia, there is music beyond country, rap, American pop, and classic rock.
What "Stereo Love" did for Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina was to break the barrier that excludes most music not made in America from playlists. Yes, singers from the U.K. and Australia have had a lot of success, but go beyond the English speaking countries and most artists don't have a chance to get American radio play, no matter how good the music.
That's a shame, too. There is great music being produced all over the world. Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, India, Northern Africa and the Middle East - among the regions with wonderful musical offerings.
"Stereo Love" swept out of Romania and to the top of European dance charts in the summer of 2009. By the spring of 2010, the irresistible tune was getting play in clubs and dances in America. At the end of 2010, pop stations started adding "Stereo Love" to rotation.
Edward Maya uses instruments and sounds from around the world. Vika Jigulina brings sensual and captivating vocals. Together, they produce music that's fresh, interesting, and ultimately very likable.
Since then, countless numbers of Americans have asked "who is that?" Or, "What's the song with the accordion?" Well, now you know. Tell your friends!

Post a Commentso much music so little time...
Thanks for pointing this out. Like your other commenters, I'm out of touch with so much of the world today (and I usually think that that is a good thing).
I love the accordion! Mazurkas, zyedeco, Cajun music. Everything but Lady of Spain. I haven't heard this but then again I haven't listened to local radio since 1997.
I hadn't heard that song before Jeff. But I don't listen to a lot of radio (with music) or go out to clubs too often. I need to get reconnected with the world writ large when I've finished this penance.
