What's for Supper: Pizza Spaghetti

Julie Richards
Do you ever get tired of the same old thing? We seem to have a set menu that we feed our families every night. Once in a while it is nice to find a recipe that is easy and rather inexpensive. My problem is that I like to experiment. I may make my meatloaf one way this week, but next week it is totally different. One thing that remains the same in almost all households is pasta. Pasta seems to be a staple in almost any diet. The tomato sauce can get mundane. So I came up with a new twist to an old favorite. Now my kids want this dish more than the typical spaghetti. This is also a great dish for reunions or other family gatherings.

You will need to choose your pasta. I use a 2lb box.
You will also have to choose your vegetables. I use onions, green peppers and mushrooms.
The meat choice is also up to you. I use pepperoni and Italian sausage. I have made it with ground beef, as well.
The rest of the ingredients are simple. Parmesan cheese, spices, and mozzarella cheese. The spices I use are garlic, onion powder, basil, and oregano.
I have not given measurements because it is all according to taste. What I use is 2 tsp of the garlic, and 1/2 tsp of the other spices. The Parmesan cheese is about 1 cup. I use 2 or more cups of mozzarella.

Putting it all together is quite easy. Boil the pasta. Saute the vegetables. Brown the meat. Thepepperoni can be sauteed with the vegetables. Mix everything together. Then it's into a baking dish. All of it except for 1 cup of mozzarella. Sprinkle that on top. Because everything is cooked, you just need to warm it up and make sure the cheese is melted. About 10 or 15 minutes.

Serve with a salad and some garlic toast and you have a great meal.

Being a little creative in the kitchen can really pay off with a great meal and satisfied bellies.
