What's there to Do at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City?

Blair Hill
The University of Utah in the heart of Salt Lake City Utah, is a gorgeous campus spread out on a gorgeous mountain.. however once class lets out, being such a large campus, many students are left wondering, "What do we do now?"

If you're one of the few that live on campus or you want to hang out and meet others on campus, there is stuff ALWAYS going on around campus. You can check out the Union Center on Friday and Saturday nights were the student activities coordinators are always putting on various events such as free concerts, disco madness midnight bowling night, Las Vegas nights, and more.

During the days however, or on the rare (and I mean rare!) occasion that the student activities aren't being put on, what can one do on campus at Utah? Why not go bowling, play some pool, compete in dance dance revolution, check out the latest arcade games all at the University Union Center. While there, you can grab some Chick' Fa La, chin ease, even tacos. Or if you feel like grabbing coffee and talking arts, why not check out the Museum of fine art located on upper campus.

But if you're one of the kids that prefer hanging around town and not so much on campus, Salt Lake has a lot of awesome adventures to offer the local college kid. On 4th an 4th there's several famous coffee shops, including Salt Lake Roasting and Coffee Break, just 2 of the favorites. As well, the famous "freaky dee's" located on 21st and 7th is famous for the cross dressing workers, and the 2 am trips for coffee and french fries on Saturday nights.

Are you big into clubbing? Why not check out Area 51, or vortex just to name a few, both located downtown. Or if you're more into bar hopping you can check out Green Street located at Trolley Square, or Squatters which is right across from Vortex in the heart of downtown.

During the day however, if you want to hit up the mountains, you can hike the Ben Lomond mountain, or go skiing at Little Cottonwood Canyon (Big Cottonwood Canyon too if you're more of a snowboarder type...). In addition there's always local events going on at Pioneer Park located downtown and Liberty Park located on 7th east and 21st south; events such as local farmers markets, drum circles, and more.

Regardless if you're a grad student, or a freshman at the University of Utah, there's a ton to check out on and off campus!
