For a most special friend,
Who stayed to the end,
Her marriage to mend.
What's Worse?
He swore he never slept with her, and that much may be true.
But dinners out and secrets shared and hidden rendezvous
Soon ended both our unions, destroying both our homes.
In moments, two young families turned into combat zones.
Emotional adultery is worse than making woo.
Let's leave it to the judge, my sweet; I hope you counter-sue.
You may as well have sealed the deal, the fire between you two.
You utterly betrayed our promise. So long, buckaroo!
Welcome to dysfunction. I hope you like it here.
Don't try to reassure me now; I know you're insincere.
Her husband called today. We talked, and now your story's out.
I thought first I imagined it, but now I have no doubt.
Emotional adultery is worse than making woo.
Let's leave it to the judge, my sweet; I hope you counter-sue.
You may as well have sealed the deal, the fire between you two.
You utterly betrayed our promise. So long, buckaroo!
So take your cell phone, take your pride, and take your sweet façade.
Go take up with your soul-mate now; your union I applaud.
My life will be much simpler, when I need not play the sleuth.
I'll rest and dream and carry on; I'm sleeping with the truth.
Emotional adultery is worse than making woo.
Let's leave it to the judge, my sweet; I hope you counter-sue.
You may as well have sealed the deal, the fire between you two.
You utterly betrayed our promise. So long, buckaroo!

Post a Commentbravo... so glad you left a link on my title.. so true.. i hated playing sleuth was supper happy when I was over after the initial shock and hurt. Life does go on after an affair of any type, at first you feel so awful inside, but you realize life is better without the lies.
As alway-your poems both entertain and speak the truth.
Sad circumstance, but great truth...and I think the internet fosters emotional adultery. It is every bit as destructive and usually leads to physical adultery. Wow to the poem!
I love this-- my fave of yours so far!!!!!
I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO love this poem!
This is wonderfully written.
Good poem, but I'm sorry about how it came to be written.
