I was initially impressed with the low price I paid for this snack food. Regularly priced at $2.99, I was able to purchase a five point five ounce box for less than one dollar. While I certainly lucked out at stumbling upon this snack food when it was so deeply discounted, the regular price is still a bargain.
The packaging of this product definitely makes it appealing to customers. The cellophane window in the front of the box allows the crackers to be easily seen. There is no need to rattle the box to try to ascertain how many broken pieces are contained in the box. The picture on the front features a tasty looking cracker garnished with a mixture of vegetables and cheese. It immediately makes you think of how you can easily dress up the snack food with your own assortment of meats, vegetables and cheeses.
One two cracker serving of Wheat Thins Garlic & Parsley Flatbread contains only sixty calories. This is definitely a perk to those of us concerned with our calorie consumption. There is only one point five grams of fat in each serving, with no Saturated or Trans Fat. This is also very good news. There is also no Cholesterol in this snack food. Those consumers who must be vigilant about their Sodium intake will be interested to know that two crackers contains only five percent of the daily recommended value. There is also thirty five milligrams of Potassium, two grams of Sugar, one gram of Protein and twelve grams of Carbohydrate per serving. Unfortunately, there is no Vitamin A, Vitamin C or Calcium in this snack food. However, each two piece serving offers two percent of Iron.
I loved how these crackers tasted. There was a nice amount of garlic flavoring, as well as a little kick of parsley. The taste was very appealing, without being overwhelming. The subtlety makes it easy to pair this snack food with a variety of garnishments. There is no competition between flavorings. This easily lends itself to versatility and creativity.
The texture was also quite appealing. The crackers were light, yet crunchy. They had enough bulk to hold a dash of dip and sliced vegetables. The balance between substance and lightness was perfect. Only a few crackers dressed up with dip was enough to be filling, without being too heavy.
Overall, I would give this snack food a full five star rating. I loved the price, the taste and the endless possibilities of garnishments. I will certainly be purchasing this product again for holiday gatherings and casual snacking. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a low cost and tasty item for a buffet table or just to cure late night munchies.
