One sixteen piece serving of these baked snacks contains one hundred and fifteen calories. There is five grams of Fat and one gram of Saturated Fat in this serving size. There is absolutely no Trans Fat or Cholesterol in this product. One serving has only sixty milligrams of Sodium, which represents three percent of the daily recommended value. That is definitely a very minuscule amount for a crunchy treat. On the plus side of the nutritional content, sixteen crackers offer sixty milligrams of Potassium, two grams of Dietary Fiber, two grams of Protein and six percent of Iron.
From my very first cracker, I was very impressed with this product. Despite the reduced amount of Sodium, the snacks were crunchy and quite flavorful. None of the delicious wheat flavoring was lost, it was actually more pronounced due to the lack of the intense salty flavor. It was possible to really taste the strong graininess of the cracker. I liked this fact very much.
While this snack food is quite tasty all on it's own, it can be enhanced with a bit of healthy toppings as well. Sliced tomatoes, olives, green peppers, red onion and a dab of low calorie soft cheese can be used to make the crackers a bit more exciting. Choosing the condiments and dippers wisely can bump up the flavor nicely without diminishing the healthy aspect of the product.
I would certainly give Wheat Thins Hint of Salt a glowing five star rating. This cracker is a nice choice for snack lovers who must be conscious of their sodium intake, but don't want to sacrifice texture or taste. This product proves that salt is not the most important ingredient when it comes to a satisfying treat. The low price of $1.99 for a ten ounce box is definitely a plus as well. I love the fact that I can offer my family a great tasting snack food that doesn't send their sodium levels soaring. I plan to stock up my cabinets with this item for parties, lunch box treats and casual munching by the television.
