United States of America
According to the Wheaton Bible Church website, Back To Homeschool Day will be "a free, resource-rich morning of encouragement for homeschooling parents." Sponsors are eager to offer homeschooling parents an opportunity "...to connect, gear-up, and launch into the fall."
The first scheduled speaker of the morning will be Wheaton Bible Church Marriage and Family Pastor Dr. Rob Rienow, who will be presenting "Shaping the Hearts of Your Kids." Additional speakers offering workshops of interest to homeschooling parents include Julie Nott, marketing manager of The Old Schoolhouse magazine, Christine Field, homeschool conference speaker and author, and Virginia Vagt, editor of Home School, Inc. Two workshop sessions are scheduled, and parents will have a choice of speakers to hear. Workshop topics will include "Homeschool for Free," "Homeschooling Your High Schooler," and others.
Among the homeschool organizations participating in the event are Fox Valley Home Educators, Teaching Homes for Christ, LINK, Illinois Home Oriented Unique Schooling Experience, The Learning Vine, Homeschool Band, HS Resource Center, Christian Home Oriented Individualized Curriculum Experience, Homeschool University, Classical Conversations, The Greenhouse, Educational Therapists, and more. Representatives from these groups will be available to offer their support and services to homeschooling families.
Looking forward to the event, coordinator Christine Field says, "To our knowledge, this is the first resource fair of this type! We expect to have a great morning!"
The First Annual Back To Homeschool Day will begin at 8:45 am with complementary coffee and bagels. Workshops are scheduled to end at 12:30 pm, and time will be available for parents to browse resource tables and ask questions of the speakers and organization representatives.
Wheaton Bible Church is located at 410 North Cross St. in Wheaton, IL. This is a free event open to all homeschooling parents.
