Like a gentle stream winding its way
Through the plot of many a play,
Cupid playeth his part
Whene'er a heart joins another heart.
Through the plot of many a play,
Cupid playeth his part
Whene'er a heart joins another heart.
Though his dialog be moot,
His arrow he doth shoot;
'Tis not his words we need mark;
But where his arrow hits the mark
On the world's stage,
Within the world's play,
Cupid is the star
On Saint Valentine's day.
Star-crossed lovers bloom;
Who can forget
Those two star-crossed lovers
Romeo and Juliet?
When Cupid's arrows hath been spent,
A gentle flower he will use;
'Tis a midsummer night's dream
That lonely hearts will choose.
In Twelfth Night, The Tempest,
And Taming of the Shrew,
Cupid used up his flower;
What's left for me and you?
How about a heart-shaped box of chocolates?
Happy Valentine's day!
